Poured up pretty darn cold on tap at CCB with deep amber body and tan head. The aroma is both sweet and hoppy with a thicket of dark cherry nuanced sweet malts as well as spicy and earthy hops. The taste is bold and initially silky smooth with sweet malts, ripe dark cherries and then rolling into a moderate level of roasted malts. The hops jump in with both feet creating firm levels of spicy hop flavor growing quickly into hop bitterness into the finish. It also picks up mild citrus hop notes as well as nearly pine hop resin too. Solid offering. I didn’t enjoy this one as much in the bottle compared to tap. It seemed the hops were more subdued and didn’t help balance out the malty sweetness and lightly roasted malts as much.

Generous sampling from #KnoxBeerCrew tasting. Big amber red pour, decent head and lacing. Sweet malty and big hopped aroma. Imperial Red it is, which can be kind of boring, still tasty. Big malted sweetness, ample hops bitter, big beer period.

"imperial amber"...toffee, deep, rich malts in the fore, with hops in the background, mostly as a bittering agent, not very present in the flavor or aroma. Bottle is from May, so not quite fresh. Agreed it's a touch muddled, but overall was pretty good...somewhere between an amber and irish red, just double the strength.

Dark amber body with a huge head and thick lacing. Grand aroma of caramel, toffee, and a ton of hops. Full bodied and extremely rich with a pleasant sweetness followed by a firm bitterness. Flavors as listed in the aroma along with some buttered toast, citrus and pine.

CCB! .. Pours a deep tan ruby, decent foam head, sticky lacing .. . caramel, cheap bagged fruit, expensive soil, and estranged toffee .. . a bit muddled and lacking direction but pretty good .. . Please do not offer my god a peanut.
