Impreuna, la bine si la rau! (Together, for better and worse.) Bucegi, a popular blonde beer, was brewed for the first time at Reghin in 1984 and it has rapidly become the most valued beer brand of Romania. Brewed in all major breweries of the country, for export means as well, Bucegi turned out to be the dominant national brand.

Clear yellow with white foam head. Aroma is malty with caramel and more sweet stuff. Taste is malty with bit too much caramel. But I was thirsty and the beer was cold, so who cares. (Bucharest 201208)

I’ve noticed many raters frequently use the term ’bland’ for a lot of beers, appropriate or not. Now listen guys: You don’t fully realize what a ’bland’ beer is before you have sampled Bucegi! A remnant of the communist era, Bucegi was withdrawn from the market in 1995, but re-launched in February 2002, to nourish some Romanians’ nostalgic sentiments of the good old bad old times.
