At first glance, the true power of Brooklyn Cloaking Device is hidden. All at once there comes a wave of Brett-powered earthy aromas, a thrilling rush of Cacao-like fruitiness, hints of vanilla and pineapple, a touch of acidity, underlying forest-floor funk and the powerful murmur of French oak barrels. A beautifully dry finish cuts through and leaves you wondering how we got the drop on you. This is the true power of the Cloaking Device: the element of surprise. Cloaking Device stands as a tribute to these porters past. We brewed a strong Brett-fermented porter and aged it for nine months in French oak red wine barrels from our pals at the Larkmead Winery in California. It was then hand-bottled and re-fermented in the bottle with Champagne yeast. It is delicious, a versatile companion for food, and conducive to dreams of adventure. Malts: 2-row, Crystal 150, Crisp Chocolate, Crisp Black, Roasted barley Hops: Summit, East Kent Golding Yeast: Brettanomyces cultivated in our lab Original Gravity: 21.1° Plato

Pours opaque chocolate witt a thick and rather fine-bubbled frothy tan head. Aroma delivers tart fruit, a mixture of pomme and dark fruit, plus dusty hops and roasted malt. Flavor presents roast malt, woody hops, and tart and slightly sweet pomme and dark fruit. An interesting marriage between porter and sour. Mouthfeel features fair, smooth body and jazzy fizz.
