Bookmark and Share Solitude Abbey Style Ale Monks have been brewing beer in Belgium for centuries. Their beers have been some of the most sought after in the world. Solitude is made in the tradition of the famous brewing monks of the Abbeys of Belgium. This beer is deep mahogany in color, malt forward with hints of caramel, pear & raisin. Rule 48 of St Benedict: "for then are they monks in truth, if they live by the work of their hands" Characteristics: Often people ask what spices are in this beer. There are none. The spiciness comes from a special yeast that we use from an Abbey Brewery in Belgium. Our secret is that we do not rush this beer. We give it the time it needs to work its magic. You can not be in a rush to make great beer.

Mild and tame for this style, however it does have a pleasant dark fruitiness and underlying spice quality. Sweet and tangy with a medium body. Dark mahogany pour, fizzy head and spotty lacing. Bread, toffee and dark fruits. Good, but far from great.
