Originally brewed exclusively for beer shows, this award-winning ale has always been a Brau Brothers favorite! This is not your typical Scotch Ale. Combined with traditional malt sweetness is a distinct smoke flavor derived from authentic peat-smoked malt. This beer will change your opinion about Scottish ales due to its drinkability. Hop flavor and bitterness are minor, yet balance out this malty beer.

pretty sure this is newly labeled as Bancreagie Scotch ale. The smokiness is the beers forte. It's a little lite in color and body, but not distractingly so. The peaty, malty aroma and flavor are quite nice.

Was not impressed with this one. Tried on tap at Zorbaz, Detroit Lakes. I agree with the brewer's description that this is not a typical Scotch Ale--too malty with a smokey taste. Wouldn't try this again.

Bottle courtesy of Oakbluff: Poured a medium copper color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma is slightly sour which may indicate a small infection with some notes of caramel malt. Taste is dominated by lightly sweet caramel malt with no other discernable characteristics. Body is somewhat thin with a weird oily texture and no hint of peat malt. Overall, I thought this was quite bland.
