Brakspear Oxford Gold is a remarkably zesty brew, with fresh, citrussy aromas and a firm, fruity flavour. Pale ale malts provide the beer with its gold-gilt shimmer, spruced by a hatful of crystal malts to give body, texture and a delicate honey’d wrap. Organic Target hops deliver a shamelessly fresh perfume, whilst late hopping with organic Goldings and fermentation by our Brakspear yeasts give Brakspear Oxford Gold a fabulous, fruity finish. This beer is a perfect partner for fish dishes, shellfish, chicken or salads.

Darker yellow with solid white foam head lacing to glass. Aroma is bitter hops with some earthy gras, Taste is surprsingly bitter and with very small caramel, again earthy tones. Bitter aftertaste. Organic, so also helping the envirinment. (Velp 201208)

Darkish golden color with nice white top. Aroma has some hints of herbs and flowers in it. Taste is bittersih with sidekick of strawberry and bread. Aftertaste is nicley refreshing.

Amber in colour with golden highlights, arriving with a fairly lively carbonation. A thin white head forms but settles down too quickly to a thin ring with a few lacey spots clinging to the glass. The aroma is bright and citrusy and I think I can detect Goldings hops dominating the nose. There is also a maltiness underneath with a hint of caramel and honey. The taste is slightly sweet with a nice honey character but a little watery on the flavour. There are hints of toast, floral hops, and a spicy edge to the bitterness. The swallow is citrusy and the finish clean, with biscuity malts lingering. To be honest, despite the local connections, I have always been unable to muster much enthusiasm for Brakspear's Oxford Gold. The light body combined with the spicy edge to the flavour does not suit my taste, but I think I am unusual in this as most of fellow beer-enthusiasts here find this an easy-drinker. Overall: Refreshing and quaffable, but lacks body and complexity of flavour. www.whatwouldjesusbrew.co.uk

Another organic brew, this one did not sit well with me. It is quite clear with a golden orange hue. There was no head. The aroma was very weak, and consisted of malt and a little hops. The flavour was very weak as well. The lack of flavour, and alcohol made this go down little more than water.

The beer poured a translucent orangy-gold with almost no head. The aroma was very hoppy with some sweet malts in the mix. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium-high carbonation. The flavour was primarily hoppy with some malt tones.

Actually at $2.10 for 330ml import from UK it's quite a good buy, especially when what's inside the bottle is very very good...Nice gold copperish colour very inviting, some strong aroma of hops and malt, light citrus flavor this beer for a low abv is quite complex and enjoyable...

1/2 liter bottle Poured a hazey honey colored ale in the glass with moderate carbonation and a decent 1 finger sticky cap which lasts and laces well. Aroma is nice honey, light peach fruit and grassiness with some botanical aromas. A lovely malt-rich and mellow bitter with surprisingly smooth silky mouth feel..interesting mild botanical-fruity tones in a rich malt body and a lightly dry finish where some great hop presence leaves a tart taste in the mouth. I’m not an ESB person but I like this. Very pleasant ale for sessioning
