Canadian Whisky Barrel-Aged Imperial Brown Ale. Born a double-mashed imperial brown ale, then matured for 18 months in freshly drained 10-year Canadian rye whisky barrels, the beer features checkered notes of rich vanilla, charred oak, warming whisky and spicy rye. With a lingering, boozy sweetness and round, resonant flavor, Plaid Habit clearly earns its name.

The beer pours a translucent dark brown colour with a minimal white ring for a head. The ring lasts a long time. The aroma is burnt wood, roasted malt, weak molasses, grass, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is charred wood, alcohol, roasted malt, and Maple syrup. The beer is very sweet, probably too sweet for my liking

Pours a deeper amber colour with a caramel hue. The fizzy warm beige cap stays shortly leaving not much, but a small ring on the brew. Fruity red ale malt aromas with some alcohol, then sweetness, like caramel and maple syrup. Dark fruit notes like plums and raisins. The taste is a little less sweet with the alcohol and mild hops giving this a nice light dry finish. Maple notes, coconut and hints of apples. Eventually, the wood barrels come out in the nose and flavours. This goes down quite nicely and is very pleasant as a winter warmer. Thankfully, this winter is almost over.

Pours clear chestnut with an ephemeral head. Aroma yields whisky, roast malt, molasses, woody and earthy tones, inviting a sip. Flavor delivers bold roast malt, molasses, whisky, woody and earthy notes - this is a beer to sip and savor, not chug! Texture offers firm, smooth body though only so-so fizz. Get the habit!
