Brewed for the Great American Beer Festival's Pro / Am competition, we used a formula developed by local homebrewer Peter Zou. "Nelson" in the name refers to the Nelson Sauvin hop variety grown in New Zealand. This hop gives the beer a distinct grape / white wine flavor. The beer itself is the California Common style. We have to use the relatively stupid style name, California Common, because the real name, Steam Beer, is trademarked and we can't say Steam Beer. Oops, I said it. I meant to say Eamstay Eerbay. Root for Peter to win this year's GABF Pro / AM. The winner will be announced on October 1, 2011
