Canadian winter is a time of transition, from the first day on the slopes to the last game of shinny. We wait all year for the time to be right, as we've awaited the Apex Barleywine. Aged in Cabernet Franc barrels, and made with over 15 malts and mountainous hops, this brew is worthy a tradition of its own.

A bomber of bomber yet again, this one from Value-On. Clear ruby pour, not much of a head. Boozy aroma, and some caramel to go along with the alcohol. Solid mouthfeel. Flavour rather like the nose: a boozy caramel melange. Not sophisticated, but I do like it; seems stronger than the claimed 10% ABV. Not overly sweet at the finish. Might improve with age.
