East Coast edition 2018. 330ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a medium sized frothing tan head and dissipates to a small bubbly foamy layer. Has a deep dark brown appearance, almost pitch black. Lively carbonation. Some patchy lacing remains. Aromas of dark roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla. Flavours are sweet, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, oats, roasted malts, notes of vanilla and coffee. A little bit woodsy and faintly smoky. Nice smooth, slick and oily mouthfeel. Very good overall and not too boozy at 9.5%abv.

Pours a black colour with no visual highlights. The head is big, frothy, bubbly, deep beige with very good retention and bubbly-creamy lacing. Roasted malt base aromas with dark fruits, molasses with the barrel that adds hints of whiskey. Oh wow ! This barrel-aged liquor takes over in the taste with some roasted malts that linger alone. Hints of wood on the tongue. Pretty good overall, but nothing outstanding with such a long title - full of this and that.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a 1” medium brown head which slowly recedes to a rocky film. The aroma is roasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate, and coffee. Smells amazing. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma with a definite woody taste thrown in. Chocolate flavour is milk chocolate more than dark chocolate. I like the beer, although the flavour doesn’t live up to the promise of the aroma.
