Lots of biscuity malt character from the best quality Scottish malted barley. Crystal malt add toffee and caramel taste and black malt contributes a crisp astringent balance. Challenger and Goldings hops add a fresh herbal and resin hop note as well as a refreshing bitter linger to balance with the sweet malt character. Part of the 2018 Belhaven Craft Christmas 6-Pack. The beer pours a beautiful translucent dark copper colour with a thin film for a head. The aroma is toasted malts, light caramel, floral hops, and some weak spiciness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and is slightly creamy. The flavour is light sweet caramel, cereal grains, a little yeastiness and a nice bitter hop finish. This is quite good for a ‘Scottish’ ale. -

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Beautiful clear copper colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Pleasant malty aroma, notes of caramel, fresh bread and pastry, hints of dark berries. Malty flavour too, some caramel but not too sweet, very moderate earthy hops. A true Scottish Ale. Will buy again.
