Purchased at Bevmo, in Concord, Ca. Insanely expensive at $10/btl. Thick head. Pours like Old Rasputin. No light passes through body. Very dark dark brown color, boardering on black. Very close flavor profile when compared to Old Rasputin, however, not quite the sweetish-ness to it. No aroma to speak of. Also body might be a tad thinner. Overall a nice beer, but not something I’m going to spend that kind of money on again.

On tap at MBBF in Idaho Falls
Appearance: Pours dark brown with a huge tan head and good lacing
Aroma: Roasted malts, coffee and piney hops
Taste: Dark malts, bitter with hops
I’d like to try this again, bottled version. This was not balanced, very bitter.Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8
Courtesy of sebletitje. 2008 vintage pours deep black with nice mocha head. The aroma is dark roasted malts, hints of raisins, burnt malts, faint olive brine, molasses and a leafy hop vegetable note. The mouth feel is somewhat thin to begin but gets creamy into the finish. The taste begins with faint olive brine, over dry hopped vegetable notes and a mild cherry hard candy sensation. It then moves into rich chocolate, burnt malts and lingering bitter hoppiness. Not nearly as hoppy as I was expecting and certainly tastier too.

from notes (bomber)...big black heavy oily beer with tar like aspects...light smoke, riasins, chocolate, coffee. Bitter and semi sweet. Not bad, not best in class either. Hit the spot, though.

Strong aroma has a firm overtone of sweet chocolate, like getting a good whiff of a Hershey bar, along with smoky, coffee and nutty hints. It pours a mouth-watering sable that is opaque save at the very edges and has a thick, fluffy, persistent light tan head that leaves some substantial lacing. Smoky flavor has tones of coffee, licorice, molasses and nuts and is subtly sweet - and has quite the alcohol kick! Texture is fizzy and lively, a little oily, very pleasing. This one is worth seeking.

I’m looking at my notes about this beer from a week ago, they are very point form and choppy but I’m to lazy to fell in proper sentences so I’ll review it exactly the way I wrote it down. Extreme dark brown ……..small skiff….good roapy lacing………sweet coffee…….chocolate……vanilla……smooth……. chalky earth feel……..bitter lingers…..massive bitter lingers. Strawberry?!?!?!

Pours out in a opaque black colour with a beige creamy lasting head. Big aroma of black coffee, black chocolate, tar with a strong presence of leafy, minty and citric hops. Big and uncompromising flavour and mouthfeel of black bitter coffee, grapefruit, mint, pine-needles and cocoa. Long bitter finish of grapefruit, menthol, coffee, pepper and alcohol. Extravagant and bold stuff.

Bottled. Opaque black colour with small brown head. Aroma is roast, alcohol, fruits, yeast and hops. Flavour is very much the same with some mild vanilla, old coffee and salted licorice. Rather out of balance for my taste with all the sweetish sour stuff mixed into this one.

a very ballzy beer. poured a rich and enchanted nature brown. i like what eaglefan said i has the thickness of motor oil! but the taste is enriched with fruit and a fish oil like after taste! bar-b-q prums~ nice amount of carbonation. its a little acidy~
