Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a nice deep dark body that supports a thin mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up a dash of dark fruity esters and then larger notes of dark roasted malts and chocolate malts. The taste delivers a pleasing and varied blend of dark roasted malts, chocolate and then some slivers of burnt maltiness. Just as the dark roastiness to nearly burnt malts recede just a bit a nice somewhat malt sweetened chocolate note takes over. That works. The chocolate and dark roastiness just ride into the finish on top of a smooth mouth feel.
