Haters Gonna Hate is an ice-concentrated Kölsch– a tribute to the first batch of Lug Tread, which ended up partially frozen due to a faulty chiller. The results were super tasty and the beer won “Best of the Fest” at the Golden Tap Awards. 8 years later we recreated this happy accident with Haters Gonna Hate, a lagered ale that’s ice-concentrated and enhanced with some mildly catty Nelson Sauvin hops. Iced-Kölsch ain’t no Lug Tread – but hey, don’t hate the player, hate the game. History & Style For Vankleek Hill Oktoberfest 2014 the Beau’s brewers split up into teams, charged with creating the best recipe for this year’s fest. Team Nine Lives (Beau’s Brewmaster Matthew O’Hara along with Dave Lariviere, Thaila Riden, and our orange tabby brewery cat Orkin) came up with the idea to recreate our very first tasty “accident” of 8 years ago, an ice-concentrated, extra-strong rendition of Lug Tread. Tasting Notes Haters Gonna Hate is unfiltered, strong, and has a golden orange hue reminiscent of Orkin herself. Haters Gonna Hate’s aroma suggests funky tropical fruits such as mango or papaya. Also enhanced with some mildly catty Nelson Sauvin hops. A clean malt presence allows for full display of the hop driven fruit flavours and balanced but moderately high bitterness. Enjoyed this very much at TFOB on draught. Probably because it was late in the day and vendors were running out of beer. Now rating the bottle. Clear straw colour with a bubbly white head that thins quickly but has great lacing. I don't know much about the style but it tastes like a strong pilsner with an earthy hoppiness. Grain and grass aroma. Smooth medium mouthfeel. Need something to compare it with.

Part of their Oktoberfest 2015 4-pack. Pours a hazy light golden with yellow-orange hue. The head is white with good stay and very nice web-like creamy lacing. Cereal grain aromas with lots of fruits (mango, oranges) and some mild hops in the background. These hops show more in the taste creating a nice bitterness over the fruity malts. Notes of honey, grain, grass and fruitiness. A easy-drinking strong ale with some good fruitiness and hops.

Pours a nice frothy, creamy looking white head and has a fairly clear golden appearance. Lively carbonation. Huge thick dirty lacing. Aromas of toasted and bready malts, a bit of herbal hops. Flavours are pretty abundant with lots of malts showing, mainly bready and toasty malts. Some notes of biscuits. Pretty good mouthfeel.

The beer pours a crstal clear light orange colour with a generous white bubbly head that lasts. The aroma is citrusy, tropical fruit, light grassy notes, and tropical hops. The mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is tropical fruit, grass, and alcohol is very prevalaent....which kills the tropical fruitiness of the flavour.
