Farm Table Series are sessionable beers inspired by tradition and brewed true to a classic style. Patersbier is a Belgian-style ale. Expect a great drinkable beer, with traditional Belgian yeast character. History & Style Milder in alcohol than a dubbel or tripel, Patersbier (“Father’s beer”) was traditionally brewed by monks to enjoy within the walls of their abbey, while they worked away at brewing their famous strong ales. Tasting Notes Pours a slightly hazy blond with dense, rocky white foam. Sweet honeyed malt with floral overtones dominate the aroma. The flavour features initial malt sweetness. Peppery notes from the yeast lend complexity while hop bitterness provides balance. The finish is bright, clean and crisp. Food Pairings Hot & sour soup with chicken and tofu; chicken braised with Patersbier, grain mustard & herbs with spaetzle; Nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice); bloomy rind brie-style cheeses. Pours a slightly hazed straw colour with a white bubbly head that dissipates to a thin ring. Not much lacing. Thin mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Crisp taste of cereal malt, grass and floral hops. Subdued aroma of corn and damp denim. Odd aftertaste. One is enough.

Pours a fairly big foamy bubbly white head and has a clear straw coloured appearance. Thick lacing. Aromas are grainy and grassy, some notes of corn and sweet malts. Flavours are sweet malts, some notes of grassy and floral hops. A bit of yeasty notes as well. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Average carbonation. Quite refreshing.

Batch No. 5108, pkg date 05/03/16. Pours a slight unfiltered, light golden colour with a frothy white head, long retention and thick foamy lacing. Smells decent at first pour with the Belgian Ale yeast and mild hops, but does change quickly into this weird nose with the hops over the grain. Then, after breathing some, goes back to alright with some citrus and spicy grass. The taste starts off with cereal malt, going through the yeast to end with some dryness and bitterness with the grassy hops. Something about the hops that bug me, but the rest is decent. A hoppier Belgian ale.
