Tasted at the brewpub on 7/9/2009. This California Common pours a medium amber color. The aroma is malty and fruity. A medium bodied California Common. The malts are caramel and semi sweet. The hops are slightly grapefruity. Has more the qualities of an amber than a California Common. The malts don’t seem to have the sweet estery quality than is typical in a stream beer. A touch tart in the finish, which I wasn’t expecting and did not like much. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This beer at the brewpub doesn't come cheap at $5.50 a pint, but when you're hungry and thirsty you'll do anyhthing. This was my third visit to the Beach Chalet and one of my least favorite beers from here. However, it was far from bad. The beer had a very orange-red color to it with a nice head and good lacing. Not much aroma and the body was fairly light. An easy drinking beer that is very dry and not much else.
