The Baron Schwarzbier is a classic German black beer. The color is deep black with tinges and highlights of ruby and brown. At first the Schwarzbier starts with a slight roasty nose and taste, followed by a faint chocolate-malty body with a very crisp clean lagered finish. The Schwarzbier is lagered for an average of 10-12 weeks to provide a very smooth easy to drink finish without disrupting the full flavor provided by the dark malts. All ingredients for the beer are imported from Germany. Brewed in accordance to the German Beer Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516.

This Schwarzbier pours a deep brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and roasty malts with a touch of earthy hops. Medium to lighter bodied dark lager. Malts are roasty and semi-sweet chocolate. Hops are earthy and floral. Somewhat toasty and nutty tasting. Nice balance. Good carbonation. This beer reminds me of the generic “dark beer”, simple, good and drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and a touch roasty.
