The Baron Pils is a traditional Northern German Style Pilsner. It has a fantastic malty aroma with a slight spice from the hops. The head is brilliant white and floats on the clean pale lager. The sparkling mouthfeel gives way to a soft malt sweetness that is followed by a long dry super crisp finish. The balanced clean finish taunts the mouth to take another drink. All ingredients for the beer are imported from Germany. Brewed in accordance to the German Beer Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516.

The ONLY reason it gets a 3 overall is the slightly less than pure skunky aroma. It pours a pale, almost clear yellow reminiscent of some of the less than desirable brews out there. I don't know what traditional German style it's modeled after, but I sure didn't taste anything this foul in Germany.

A pale yellow color and looks like swill. A moderate white head on this one. A faint corny and grassy aroma. The flavor is dull with some grassy notes and corn. The malt bill is what seperates this from standard BMC. Hardly a true to style German Pils. Pretty crappy.

I've been a huge Lager mood as of late -- partially owing the subtle change in the weather, partially owing to still somewhat recovering from the consolidated BeerAdvocate/Stone 10th Anniversary weekend-long festivities (ouch, my liver still hurts!). But when it comes to the likes of this offering from the PacNW, I can't say that I'm complaining much!
Perhaps the most boring label I've seen in ages. Not that it really matters, but really, I would think that co-op'ing some of the semi-broke hippy graphic artists hanging out in one of the many combo bookstore/coffee shops in the Pioner Square area would have produced something a bit more eye-catching!
But really, what's this beer about, out of the bottle, into a glass, and then into my mouth? Tasty-tasty, me'thinks. Very clean, with a nice sturdy yet not rugged mouthfeel, reasonably clean finish, and nice overall drinkability.
Perhaps not as bitter as I would expect -- for both the style, and for a PacNW brewer. In fact, it's my minor complain with this beer -- some more clean&efficient Nobel hops in the mix would help this already tasty beer excel.
A bomber of Pils (rarer than you might think), from a part of the country that excels at making hoppy ales, not lagers. An oddity, true -- but a tasty one, at that!
Recommended.
