Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a burst of sweet boozy barrel notes, sweet chocolate, some molasses, marshmallow, vanilla and then a bit of nuttiness at the end of the draw. The taste is straight up richness with chocolate, fudge, sweetened burnt malts and sweet nuttiness. To midway the booze, rye whiskey and thin spicy oak notes do a good job at creating a nice counter to the smooth rich sweetness. This is solid as the barrel treatment creates a pleasing balance with the beer notes.
