Abbey Roade is brewed in the tradition of the famous Belgian Abbey-style ales. This wonderful brew is soft and sweet up front. The complex and spicy middle palate is in most part due to the generous addition of dark Belgian candy sugar. This semi-dry ale has notes of ripe plum and pear with a peppery finish. The origins of the Abbey-style ale date back to the Middle Ages. Monks residing in monasteries, called Abbeys, brewed beer as a source of nutrition during their frequent and often lengthy fasting periods.

I reviewed this beer last year at a beer event and just found my tasting sheet. I only wrote down the score, so I'm afraid this is all I have to say :(

I live near the brewery and had many times tried this one. It is more of a dubble style with a medium dark brown color rather than the lighter color of a triple. One of the better beers they make.

Tasted a sample (5 of 8) with lunch at the Appalachian Brewing Company, Harrisburg, PA. Distinct banana aroma in the nose. Flavor dominated (and ruined) by a sweet bubblegum taste. As a fan of Belgian ales, I had high hopes. But the banana and bubble gum flavors are just too over the top for me to recommend this one.
