Hoppy Sour: Citra was our very first single-hopped sour release. As the name suggests, Citra hops lend citrusy, fruity flavors and aromas, leaning toward grapefruit or even melon and passionfruit. It’s a popular hop in blends behind big West Coast IPAs, but bold enough to shine solo. These fruity aromas blend harmoniously with our tart, earthy sour blonde ale, creating a beer that simultaneously contradicts and compliments itself. Pairs best with summery salads and sense of adventure. Hoppy Sour Series Our Farm to Barrel beers focus on the eons-old tradition of aging beers in oak casks. Each “Hoppy Sour” starts as an American blonde ale fermented with our house sour culture. After primary fermentation, the beer is racked into used wine barrels and given months to mature, allowing the beer to take on the complex flavors of the barrel and develop a refreshing, lip smacking tartness. Right before bottling, we generously dry-hop the beer with a single varietal of some of our favorite hops to create a delicious contradiction of flavor and style.

Pours a slight hazy light-golden colour with a big frothy white head, long lasting and thick creamy lace. A nice mix of sour nose with the citra hops that gives fresh grassiness, berry hints with coriander and mustard even. The sour starts off the taste with a nice bitterness of grass giving my the coriander feel again. Light vinegars all over. Gets cloudy at last pour. A very nice blend of hoppy citrus grass and sourness. A great first experience from this brewery, and my first top 50 sour/wild ale.
