Fireside Mild Ale is a salute to the excesses of the Holiday Season. It contains 65% of the calories, 50% of the carbs, and 100% of the flavour of our regular brews, making it a great beer to drink while contemplating broken New Year’s resolutions. Mild ale is a traditional British style of beer that is moderately dark in colour, light in alcohol, and generally considered a “session beer”, i.e. a beer to be enjoyed in quantity with friends. We’ve brewed our Fireside Mild with premium British Golden Promise two-row malt and Goldings hops to keep it as authentic as possible. Appearance: Medium brown with a creamy off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, toasted grains, and slightly nutty chocolate. Flavour: Mild caramel malt with notes of dark chocolate; somewhat sweet, biscuity malt follows with a light drying finish. Well balanced floral hop flavour and moderate bitterness compliments. K... 3.5%... Alley Kat... oh boy...
Well, it poured out nicely: nice deep, clear brown with a very long lasting light tan cap / coverage. Dull but welcoming nutty aroma, weak molasses, brown sugar me thinks as well. Taste is ok too with a surprising amount of malts, mild caramel flavour with some nut. Ok hop finish gets it done. Leaves my mouth amazingly dry and parched. Well done. Destroys any other low alc beer in this market. -

Odd choice for a winter seasonal ale a Mild ale with a whopping 3.5% not the winter warmer I’m use to seeing. Nice looking beer dark brown with a long lasting cap. A not surprising mild aroma that’s nutty malty hints of sour but mostly sweet, aroma is likable. Mmmm…. Malty goodness. Surprisingly flavourful, sweet start, creamy and full on the tung, and some bitterness in the finish. Nutty flavour with some ash. Chocolate really starts to show up towards the end of the bottle. For what this is it is very good I think I may pick more up just to drink.
