Bottle conditioned. Occasionally available in cask. This is a dark, amber, traditional old ale brewed with English malt and hops, robust in character with unique malty flavour. This beer is an excellent after dinner drink, superbly complementing cheese, fruit and sweet desserts or on its own as the ideal evening refreshment.

Bottled@The 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (thanks JP). Ambery brown colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is caramel malts, some slight floral and grassy notes as well as mild plumlike notes. Flavour is being quite much the same as the aroma, but is a bit more bitter than the aroma would have promised.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Deep brown colour, large to moderate tan head. Vinous aroma, sherry, oak, raisins, dark fruits. Very rich, malty, sweet, fruity and vinous flavour. Robust and far from easy drinking - still very, very good! This must be a classic old ale - one to save for Christmas (after dinner).

Bottle. Dark brown colour, clear, with a slim off-white head. Fruity and caramel aroma with a touch of alcohol. Taste is malty, caramel and woody (almost smokey). Alcohol is well hid, apart from some late warming. Medium bodied, low carbonation. A good Old Ale.
