Beer is a hazy golden brown. Head is huge, rocky, and lasts. Aroma is light fruits, grass, yeast, and citrus. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is grainy, sweet, and has a bitter finish. Alcohol was nioticeable.

Purchased at Liquor Control Board of Ontario store. A very pale golden colour with a huge white head, and good lacing. Lots of light fruits and citrus notes in the aroma, finishing off with a grains, spices, and yeast. Flavour is light fruits, yeast, spices, and a bitter citrusy finish.

It came in a nice 750ml corked bottle from BevMo! This Tripel poured a golden hazy yellow with a off-white, creamy head. The aroma was fruity and spicy. The taste was sweet with fruit and some yeast (maybe I should not have poured all the yeast out of the bottle). It's a good typical Tripel.

A nice amber colored tripel with strong foam head. You smell some fruits, but I don't taste them. Quite high alcohol, nice lasting bitter taste of hop. Pleasant.

The beer poured an apple juice gold into the chalice with a thin white head. The aroma was fruity and spicy with a hint of yeast. Apples and citrus were the predominant fruit notes. Mouthfeel was medium bodied and well carbonated. The first flavour note is yeast, followed by some light apple and citrus, and unfortunately, the alcohol is very noticeable.

Pours a hazy light golden colour with a large white head which settles quickly to leave a thin bubbly head which lasts. Leaves good lacing .Smell is sweet fruit, mainly banana, some spices also evident. Sweet fruity flavour a little spice and long malt aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel after you get past the carbonation. Enjoyed this beer. Helping me get past this hangover.

Broke my old dekonnick goblet that I had for years, needed a new one, and so I bought a gift set of afligem to get the new goblet. Had on tap years ago in France, loved it them, but now some 250 or more beers later, its not what I might have given it. Out of the bottle it was a touch skunky, maybe a bit to cold, and there seemed to be a real excess of bottle sediment, like alot. Poured carefully through a tea strainer, that was corrected, though not the best of way going about things probably. Should have let it sit longer. No regrets though! After the beer warmed the skunk was lost, and gave way to carmel, yeast, sugar cane sugar, a touch of jaggery (indian sugar from the sap of palm trees), gurwitztraminer and some other white wine stuff, green leaves, sunshine after a rain storm and chalk. Quite thick in the mouth, and mostly unexciting, it just slides right past the taste buds with short homage to many of the subtlties mentione in the aroma. Reasonable I suppose, but the gift set leads me to believe that Affligem is a slightly below average belgian brewery.

Affligem Tripel pours out to become a clear, golden, slightly carbonated tripel with a nice, fresh head. Aroma has hints of apple, yeast and a bit of alcohol, but not disturbing. Flavour has some herbs I can't place, fresh malts and a apple-like taste. A cross between a Granny Smith and a Jonagold. Good beer, perfect for drinking among friends.

I have to agree with Porterhouse....this is a perfectly executed example of how to make an Abbey Tripel. A beautiful cloudy medium gold colour with a huge frothy white rocky head. The aroma was yeasdt, light fruits, citrus, earthy funk, and spices. Flavour had a grassy malt base, with citrusy hops, spice, and yeast. A great tripel!

This is a no frills Belgian ale. It is about as traditional as it gets. Perfect appearance and mouth feel. The only shortcoming is the aroma and flavor. Both are of yeast and nothing else. Not that it's a bad thing. It is fantastic Belgian yeast. I just don't detect anything else.
