Celtic brewers used caramel malts and roasted barley to impart a deep red color and rich malty flavour to their ales. Starting with this style, we worked for over two years developing and perfecting our 21st Century version. It's Big. It's Red. An Irish Red Ale with a North American attitude. All the body you want with just the right amount of hoppy goodness. This market research batch launches O'Dempsey's "beer to die for" into the Atlanta area and "Big Red" will be available at your favorite pubs and retail outlets in the South East in early 2010.     Nothing stellar with this one, but drinkable. Pours the requisite red with a faint head. Produces decent lacing. Medium bodied with aroma and flavors of caramel and sweet malt. Slightly hoppy finish was unexpected, but welcome.

    Aroma of caramel with decent lacing and little to no head. Light to medium bodied and drinkable. Mostly caramel and malt flavors with a very slight roasted note and a hoppy aftertaste.

    Pours a deep, barely translucent reddish sable with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled light tan head. Aroma is strong, spicy and surprisingly hoppy. Flavor is quite hoppy with strong tones of cloves and cinnamon and a hint of honey sweetness. Texture is sassy, fizzy and lively.
