Damon (1993-2004) The time spent with loved ones, now lost, seems to affect our mind and body perpetually: memories happen upon us, unsuspectingly, and bring about tears of fond remembrance. Damon was our brother – devout and patient in an age of busyness and distraction. In his honor, we crafted and conditioned this Imperial Stout in bourbon barrels from our favorite distillery. We still reflect, daily, upon our Damon and his scruffy chin of grey – of his loyalty and his love. 27º Plato 10.5% abv

2011 - bottle 610 of 864 - I have been saving this special brew for the end of a LONG work project. This was aged in Blanton's bourbon barrels. Waxed 500 ml bottle poured slowly into a snifter with very little carbonation but a beautiful midnight black pour with the consistency of motor oil. The aromas are otherwordly, with loads of vanilla and a hint of oakiness and roasted malts. I sipped this slowly for an hour and half to see how the beer changed with the temperature. While cold there were loads of vanilla and tons of pleasant bourbon. As it warmed I found notes of cherries, figs, oak, and more bourbon. The base beer is incredibly thick and sweet so it's a perfect brew to age in barrels. This was a sublime experience, and would score perfectly if it had just a bit more carbonation.
