Tasted at the Triple Rock Sour and Barrel Aged Fest on 2/13/2011. This Imperial Stout pours an eclipse black color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized tan head, with good lacing and nice retention. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, smoke and leather. A medium to full bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee, vanilla and smoke. The hops are earthy and herbal. There are hints of leather, smoke and tobacco throughout the taste. Decent carbonation. Has the heavy oily character to the mouthfeel, yet very smooth tasting. Mostly hides the 12.6% alcohol. Very nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
