2402 | Avery Out of Bounds Stout | United States | Dry Stout | 4.3
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 12 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pitch black colour, huge tan head. Pleasant roasty aroma, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, some fruity hops, hints of wood. The flavour is moderately roasty with notes of dark malts, coffee and dark chocolate. A moderate but distinct roasty and hoppy bitterness in the finish, balanced by a moderate but sufficient malty sweetness. Good stuff. |

2403 | Ørbæk Geniuss Extra Stout | Denmark | Dry Stout | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Black colour, reddish brown in the highlights. Big to moderate beige head. Roasty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and coffee. The mostly dry flavour has some initial hints of acidity, and the mouthfeel could be fuller. Moderate roasty notes of coffee, hints of cocoa, "dusty" hops in the finish. Fair enough, but not the best stout I’ve had. |

2405 | Orkney Dragonhead Stout | United Kingdom | Dry Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Black colour, low head. Roasty aroma, hints of dark chocolate. Flavour is decidedly roasty with coffee notes, quite dry. Not very complex, but beats Guinness any day! Rerate: 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.0%. Black colour, big and creamy brown head. Pleasant aroma of dark roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate, hints of smoke and tar. The flavour has roasted malts, mild coffee and dark bitter chocolate, some fruit in the finish, with a roasty bitterness and moderate hops in the aftertaste. Good beer, but would probably profit from a higher ABV. |

2408 | Guinness Draught (Can) | Ireland | Dry Stout | 4.2
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Always a winner! - at least when the alternatives are average lagers. The bitter and coffee-like aftertaste may not be a favourite with everyone. Rerate: Well, I'll never turn down a Guinness - but still has to take off a few points. It's good, but not THAT good! |

2409 | Beamish Irish Stout | Ireland | Dry Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Smoother than Guinness, very drinkable. A stout recommended for beginners. Rerate: ...which doesn't in any way imply that Beamish hasn't a lot to offer the experienced stout drinker as well. Aroma is better than Guinness, and the flavour is outstanding too. I simply suggested that the prejudiced anti-stout drinker might find out that he/she actually likes it. |

2410 | Wychwood Black Wych | United Kingdom | Dry Stout | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 (500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Very dark reddish brown colour, moderate thick tan head. Moderate but pleasant roasted aroma, hints of tar and old woodwork. Flavour is all roasted malts, a bit thin mouthfeel compared to some other stouts, but refreshing. No masterpiece, but nice enough. |

2411 | Carlow O'Hara's Celtic Irish Stout | Ireland | Dry Stout | 4.3
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Colour is black (= very dark brown), very good and creamy tan head, leaves a nice lacing. Lovely roasted coffee-like aroma with notes of unrefined cane sugar. Flavour is all roast barley with coffee notes, not particularly complex but still very good. Dry aftertaste. An excellent alternative to GBM (Guinness/Beamish/Murphy’s). |

2414 | Guinness Draught | Ireland | Dry Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 To the best of my knowledge, this is the same beer as Guinness Draught (can), with a nitrogen-widget in the bottle. I had it served at an Angus Steak House outlet in London, poured in a glass (drinking a nitro-beer straight from the bottle? - what an idea!!). Smooth and pleasant to drink, with the usual Guinness coffee-like roastiness. |

2415 | Ølfabrikken Stout | Denmark | Dry Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. Black colour, dark brown in the "edges". Lovely roasty aroma with notes of liquorice. Dry roasty flavour with strong espresso coffee notes, very bitter - probably more from the heavy roastiness than the hops. |

2416 | Banks and Taylor Edwin Taylors Extra Stout | United Kingdom | Dry Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Black (and I mean BLACK) colour, even when held to the light. Aroma has some dark chocolate, coffee and wood. Roast malt flavour. Hints of tar in the finish. Dry, woody aftertaste. This is not a stout of the "smooth and velvety" kind, but an interesting aquaintance indeed! |

2417 | Staropramen Kelt Original | Czech Republic | Dry Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Website: www.kelt.cz . 500 ml bottle, bought in Prague. Irish style dry stout. Black (=very dark brown to ruby) colour. Moderate creamy tan head. Moderate roasty aroma, notes of coffee, faint hints of leather. Smooth drinking, but there’s a pronounced bitter roastiness. Strong coffee notes. Little complexity besides the roastiness, but not nearly as bad as some other ratings made me expect. |

2418 | Whiplash Slow Life | Ireland | Dry Stout | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Small sample on tap at Mandag i Annen, Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, creamy nitro head. Aroma and flavour much like Guinness, Murphy's and Beamish - the character is maybe a bit softer than Guinness. Should be palatable even for people who normally stick to paler beers. |

Clear and beautiful reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and brown bread. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is slightly sweet, again with notes of malts, caramel and brown bread, very moderate hops, as expected from the style. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 October 2019: 330 ml can, as Disko Brutus Bayer, from Bris Ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.7%, IBU 25. Reddish brown colour, enormous beige head that lasts "forever", takes quite a while before I reach the beer underneath. Aroma of malts, brown bread and caramel. Malty flavour too, brown bread and caramel again. Fair enough. |

Aroma of malts, dark bread, burnt breadcrumbs and caramel. Nice malty flavour, sweeter than the aroma made me expect, but not too much. Distinct notes of caramel and dark bread, hints of prunes, moderate hops. |
