500 ml bottle from "Wessex Craft Brewers" (now Integrated Bottling Solutions), courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Sediment in the bottle, some floaties in the glass, but the cider is otherwise fairly clear. Deep golden colour. Some fizziness when poured, but no lasting head. Very nice aroma of cider apples, fermenting fruits and oak. The mouthfeel is rather fizzy and surprisingly "thin" for a 6% cider made from 100% apple juice. Flavour of cider apples (no surprise!), quite dry. Not bad though.

750 ml clear ’champagne’ bottle, bought at Centra, Oslo. Made from the Aroma apple variety, vintage 2007, bottle #2494. ABV is 4.7%. Extremely pale yellow colour with a greenish hue. Pours heavily sparkling with a shortlived head. Carbonation in the glass subsides rapidly. Aroma and flavour of sweet apples, sulphur and cheap white wine. Fairly thin mouthfeel, sugary finish. They have probably used ’yeast stopper’ and sulphur here to terminate the fermentation prematurely, in order to keep the ABV below the Norwegian ’grocery store limit’ (less than 4.75%). I am not a big fan of this one. Won’t buy again.

Oct. 2018: 473 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 17.2%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Aroma of roast malts, roasted nuts, vanilla, chocolate, oak and coffee. Soft carbonation, soft mouthfeel for its strength. Sweet flavour, with notes of roast malts, marshmallows, chocolate, vanilla, roasted nuts, spices and coffee. Moderate bittering hops. Flavour bomb!

Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 6%. Black colour, moderate to low beige head. Pleasant and harmonious aroma of coffee, chocolate and dark dried fruits, hints of oak. Flavour of coffee without being too "heavy", pleasant to drink (but demands that you like coffee). A very enjoyable beer.

355 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 8.3%, IBU 60. Pitch black colour, moderate to low tan head, not the best retention. Strong and intense aroma of fine coffee and dark chocolate. The flavour is full of coffee, with dark chocolate and oats in the background. Pretty good.

330 ml can, from Coop Mega Madla Handelslag. ABV is 4.7%. Black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, mild coffee and chocolate, also lactose and hints of vanilla, water from a flower bouquet and prunes. Soft mouthfeel. Smooth and somewhat fruity (plums / prunes) flavour, with the same elements as the aroma (minus the flower water), very moderate hops. Nice to drink.

Sample from can at HaandBryggeriet tasting, Cardinal Pub & Bar. ABV is 7%. Black colour, creamy tan head. Pleasant aroma and flavour of roast malts, dark chocolate and coffee. I tend to prefer stouts where the roast malts alone deliver the coffee flavour, but here the coffee addition is moderate and well balanced. A very good stout!

Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Correct ABV is 4.2%. Black colour. Coffee, old leather and cigarbox aroma, hints of prunes. Distinct espresso coffee flavour throughout, hints of prunes, quite dry. 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.2%. Black colour, decent brown head. Distinct aroma of fresh coffee, hints of liquorice and dark chocolate, maybe some prunes, old leather and cigarbox too (but not as noticeable as in the cask version). Coffee in the flavour too (as expected), but not overdone, the beer is quite balanced and fairly smooth to drink. A moderate sweetness carries notes of dark chocolate, with a hint of prunes. Bitter finish and aftertaste, both from the roasted malts, the espresso coffee and Challenger hops. The cask version was maybe a tad better, but the bottled version is still excellent!

The flavour has notes of roast malts and coffee, also caramel, treacle and toffee, but not too sweet. Moderate bittering hops in the finish.

500 ml bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 4.8%. Brewed with organic barley malts, wheat malts, oats and hops. Deep golden to amber colour, big slightly off-white head. Aroma of fruity hops, notes of oranges, hints of caramel. The flavour is smooth with notes of toffee and moderate hops, nice enough to drink but not really very exciting. An OK refreshment though.

Jan. 2016: 500 ml bottle, batch #1101, will soon be available (also on tap) at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Lovely aroma of lychee, passion fruit and citrus, also a hint of pine. Medium body. The flavour has a slight sweetness, and distinct hops throughout. Notes of tropical fruits, citrus, lemongrass and dill, pine / resin in the finish and aftertaste. Good beer. Certainly no "cream ale", but a more than decent APA.

May 2013: 330 ml bottle shared by our beerpal Ole Anders. ABV is 5%. Hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but nice citrussy aroma. Citrussy flavour as expected, also more hops than normal for a cream ale.

Smooth, soft, creamy, easy drinking nitro-beer - even when moderate consumption is the order of the day. Not much character in this one, though - but smooth and comforting indeed.

440 ml nitro widget can, bought in Prague. Deep golden/amber colour, moderate creamy head. Pleasant but moderate fruity aroma with some malts and hops. 440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.0%. Clear copper to reddish amber colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee and cookies. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, a fruity hint of raisins, minimal hop bitterness.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Pours very fizzy with a large white head. Moderate but pleasant and inviting aroma of fruity and floral American hops (Columbus, Amarillo and Challenger). Fizzy mouthfeel, not very creamy. Light bodied. Pleasant moderate flavour of American hops. Easy drinking, nice enough. Might be true to style (I don’t really know, I did not live in pre-prohibition America), but this can hardly be said to be Mikkeller’s most interesting and challenging beer (nor was it intended to be, probably).

(Bottle). Theoretically I might encounter a better Weizen than this one, but I doubt very much that will ever happen. Murky brown colour, large head, aroma of Paradise: Cloves and other undefinable spices, dried fruits (figs), oak and sandalwood. Oaky cloves flavour with hints of burnt caramel. Alcohol is present, but not overwhelmingly so. Dry aftertaste. This is a thoroughly well made beer! (Thanks, joss!)
