June 2021: 750 ml clear bottle, vintage 2018, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Extremely pale greenish-yellow colour, pours sparkling with a large but shortlived white head. Fairly nice aroma of apples, possibly also pears. Hints of damp basement and sulphites. Light bodied, medium dry flavour with some acidity. Not the best apple varieties used here, I suspect.

Distinct aroma of apples, pears and sulphites. Dry flavour of sour apples, hints of pears, also sulphites. Too much acidity and sulphur for my taste.

330 ml clear screwcap bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5%. Clear pale golden, pours moderately sparkling with a small and shortlived white head. Moderate aroma of Pink Lady dessert apples. Sweet flavour of said apples - Pink Lady is a popular eating apple, but probably not equally great as a single variety cider apple. Nice enough to drink, though.

330 ml slimline can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Dry-hopped organic cider, made with Topaz apples and hopped with Simcoe. ABV is 6.0%. Only slightly hazy deep golden colour, very moderate carbonation. Aroma of cider apples, hints of farmhouse, hops, oak and sulphites. Bone dry flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, and an unexpected hint of beef-stock. Not a cider I'll buy again.

375 ml clear bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8%. Extremely pale straw colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. Nice aroma of fresh Norwegian eating apples. The flavour is also fresh, with a distinct fruity acidity, some sweetness but still fairly crisp.

Clear golden to orange colour, pours moderately sparkling with a shortlived white head. Aroma of cider apples, dessert apples and oak, a hint of sulphites. Medium dry flavour - hardly "brut", there is still a substantial amount of residual fruit sugars. Otherwise the same elements as the aroma.

Sept. 2020: 500 ml clear bottle, from Seven Cellars. Batch C89, produced October 2017, bottled March 2019. ABV is 8.4%. Deep golden colour, pours moderately sparkling with a shortlived white head. Distinct and pleasant aroma of cider apples and oak, a hint of sulphites. Slightly dry flavour, again cider apples and oak, tannins and sulphites in the finish.

Pale and clear golden colour, pours moderately sparkling with a shortlived white head. Aroma of cider apples, a hint of sulphites. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, notes of apples, a hint of sulphites.

330 ml can, as Sandford Orchards Saint Louis Dry Hopped Devon Cider, infused with U.S. hops. ABV is 5.5%. From Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Clear and very pale yellow colour, pours sparkling with a moderate to small white head. Distinct aroma of cider apples and floral and herbal hops, hints of oak. The crisp flavour has notes of fresh apples and citric and herbal hops. Some residual sweetness, the bitterness is low.

750 ml corked & caged dark green bottle, vintage 2021, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9%. Supposed to be a still cider, but there is a slight initial carbonation. Golden colour. Aroma of apples and sulphites, a hint of oak. Pleasant and medium concentrated flavour of dessert apples.

375 ml slim bottle, from the cidery. ABV is 10%. Clear deep golden to orange colour, no carbonation. Intense and lovely aroma of ripe dessert apples and concentrated apple juice. Even more intense and sweet flavour - again obvious notes of ripe dessert apples and concentrated apple juice, but also with qualities that can compete with the finest dessert wines like Sauternes or Tokajer.

Aroma of sweet dessert apples and sulphites. Moderate carbonation in the mouth. Flavour of sweet apples and appleskins, drier finish with hints of sulphites. The ordinary Alde Sider is better.

Very pale yellow colour, pours sparkling with a white shortlived head. Strong and beguiling aroma of said dessert apple varieties. Hints of oak and sulphites. Semi-sweet flavour of dessert apples, a hint of sulphites. Expensive, but worth it.
