1876 | CB Sørlandspils | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 (500 ml can). Pale golden colour, moderate head, weak but not unpleasant grassy aroma, fairly "neutral" standard pale lager flavour, at least some (but not much) bitterness. CB (on Norway's "sunshine" South coast) make a lot of hype around their "clear source water" - a little more malts and hops would have been good too! |

1878 | Arendals Pils | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Used to be my favourite Norwegian pilsener for a (rare) warm summer's day, easy drinking but a lot better than the various tasteless "sommerøl" (summer specials) being marketed these days. Arendals Pils is still being being brewed in Arendal, one of Norway's "summer towns" on the South Coast, but Ringnes have been threatening to close Arendals Bryggeri. This refreshing pils could still use a little more hoppy "bite". |

1879 | Frydenlund Pilsener | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 This was my favourite Oslo pilsener many years ago when Frydenlund Bryggeri existed in its own right (and I literally lived next door to the brewery a couple years!), but Ringnes' revival of the brew is not bad - it just isn't quite as fresh and spritzy as i remember it. (But then my memory isn't what it used to be, either...) Well, this is a pale golden, medium hopped pils, perhaps more rounded than a pils ought to be, well worth sampling but nothing that will linger in your dreams. |

1881 | Tou Pilsner | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.8
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 This used to be my local pilsner before Ringnes closed the Tou brewery and moved production to Oslo - I wish I could give it a higher rating. It was probably the most bitter of all Norwegian pilsners, which may be said to give it some character. Fizzy carbonation, head disappears quickly. Good from draught in summer, otherwise you will find that the new Tou Blå (Blue) has a lot more going - if it is still available. I have stubbornly refused to drink even a drop of Tou Pilsner after production was moved to Oslo. |

1882 | Tou Fatøl | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Was brewed by Tou Bryggeri in Stavanger, a Ringnes subsidiary which they closed. As with other brewers, I hate it when they call something "draught beer" ("fatøl") when it actually comes out of a can. This beer differs only marginally from Tou Pilsner, hops are slightly more accentuated. Not too much flavour except for the hops. I find nothing 'unique' about the head! Drinkable beer, after all. |

1883 | Aass Halling | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 The Norwegian valley Hallingdal has from ancient times been famous for its strong homebrew and subsequent knife-fights. Aass Bryggeri's Halling beer is an insult to the proud people of Hallingdal. It's a lousy pils with little or no character besides being far too sweet. (Sampled 0,5 liter can.) |

1884 | Aass Havørn Pilsner | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 A continental style pilsener, clean taste, fairly well balanced but a bit on the light side. Brewed by Aass to get market shares in Nordland county (North Norway), sold in southern Norway as well. You could easily drink quite a few of these under the midnight sun. |

1889 | Dois Corvos Prata Pilsner | Portugal | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, from a SPAR shop in Funchal. ABV is 5.0%. Pale golden colour, large white head. Sweetish aroma of malts and newmown grass, hints of honey and herbal hops. Fizzy mouthfeel. Flavour of malts and moderate herbal hops, the bitterness could with advantage be firmer. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.3%. Clear golden colour, moderate to low white head. Nice aroma of floral, grassy and herbal hops, some sweetish malts in the background. Medium sweet and malty flavour, followed by distinct herbal hops. A good pilsener indeed, but some European ones are better. |

1897 | Frydenlund Juicy Pilsner | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml can, from SPAR Jørpeland. ABV is 4.5%. Clear pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but nice aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, including lychee. The flavour has pleasant notes of citrus and lychee, fortunately not too sweet. Might well buy again, when I just want a nice summer refreshment. A tad more bitterness would not hurt, though. |

1898 | Beer Flag Birra del Famoso | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml green bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 4.8%. Clear pale golden colour, moderate white head. Fresh grassy and slightly citric and floral aroma. Crisp pilsener flavour (not too sweet) with well balanced herbal and slightly citric notes throughout. A very nice pilsener, no more, no less - and I feel no need to have a shot of Fernet Branca at the side. Might well drink this one again. |
