1751 | Aliada Cerveza Tipo Pilsen | Spain | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 1.8
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml can, from Super Cor, La Manga. ABV is 4.5%. Ingredients include maize and E-405 and E-224. Pale yellow colour, coarse white head that dies almost instantly. Industrial sweetish aroma, notes of maize and cooked vegetables, hints of citrus. Bland and uninteresting flavour, but not completely void of hops. Drinkable only when cold. |

1754 | Grans Pilsner Classic | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml clear glass bottles. A 'continental' style pils, good head, initial flavour is not unpleasant - that is, if you can find any flavour at all. Lightly hopped - in fact, lightly anything. Metallic aftertaste. At least this one is slightly better than Gran's 'Premium' pilsner. |

1755 | Kraus Hirschaid Pils | Germany | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Pale golden colour, decent head. Unusual aroma for a German pils: butterscotch, boiled vegetables, rotting grass, some malts. Where are the aromatic hops? Aroma gets slightly better as the beer warms up a little, and the butterscotch dominates. Flavour is somewhat better than the aroma, there’s a certain hoppy bitterness on a moderate and slightly sweet malty base, hints of butterscotch in the background. Drinkable, but Kraus Lager is better! |

1757 | Berentsens Økologisk Pils | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml green bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Pale golden colour, moderate head. Moderate aroma of fruity and floral hops. Clean pilsener taste, not very different from Berentsens Rogalands Pils (but this one is organic). Light bodied, tolerable hops. |

1758 | Laitilan Kukko Pils III | Finland | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.8
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, kindly provided by yngwie for an informal tasting. The ABV was 4.5%. Type pale lager golden colour, moderate head. Fairly sweet aroma, fruit and malts. Standard pilsener flavour, fairly bitter finish, slightly metallic aftertaste. No masterpiece, but I’ve had worse pilseners. And the name is quite amusing in Norwegian! |

1760 | Perlenbacher Premium Pils | Germany | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 500 ml bottle, from LIDL Norway. ABV here is 4.7%, in Germany it is 4.9%. Very pale golden colour, moderate head. Sweetish aroma, some fruit and cooked vegetables, some grass too. Very light bodied, thin mouthfeel, minimal malts, but a tolerable hoppy bitterness, which is not quite as metallic as in most other LIDL beers. Easy drinking, not offensive. |

1761 | Bryghuset Braunstein BB Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV in Norway is 4.7%. Golden colour, decent head. Relatively strong hoppy and sweetish aroma, notes of flowers and honey. The flavour is fairly malty for a pilsener, some fruit, decent hops throughout. Apparently Braunstein has on some occasion been voted "Denmark’s best pilsener" - I don’t know if that is fully deserved, but this beer is definitely much better than Carlsberg & Tuborg (not to mention the numerous Danish discount pilseners). |

1762 | Bernard Svìtlý Ležák 11° | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml green bottle, as Bernard Lager, now available in Norway at REMA 1000 stores. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, moderate white head of poor retention . Fairly nice aroma of Zatec (Saaz) hops, notes of grass, hints of honey. The flavour is fairly malty for a pilsener, and the hops are slightly better than average. Moderately bitter aftertaste. |

1763 | Skagen Drachmann Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, thanks to yngwie. ABV is 5.0%. Golden to orange colour, big white head with an orangey hue. Cloudy with floaties when the sediment is poured in the end. The aroma has malts, honey, baby porridge and over-boiled vegetables. The flavour has a substantial malty sweetness, possibly sweeter than any other pilsener I have had, with notes of honey and some fruit. Soapy finish, moderate Tettnanger hops in the aftertaste. |

1765 | Atlas Latitude | United Kingdom | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, as Atlas Latitude Highland Pilsner, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 3.9%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, big and lasting white head. Moderate but pleasant aroma of Styrian Goldings (+ Saazer and Hallertauer Hersbrücker) hops, citrussy and floral notes. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is more like a golden ale than the "pilsner" it claims to be - which is not a bad thing for me. Distinct hops throughout, balanced by just the right sweetness. Some fruit and a lovely bitterness, lasting through the long aftertaste. A nice little beer this one. |

1766 | Moss Pilsner (Original Mossepils) | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml brown bottle, bought at Berentsens Brygghus, Ølutsalget, Egersund. ABV is 4.7%. Brewed by Berentsens Brygghus according to old recipes from Moss Bryggeri. Very pale golden colour, big to moderate white head. Aroma of malts, baby porridge and cooked vegetables, reminds me of a n/a beer. Very little carbonation in the glass, soft mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly "neutral", with a very moderate malty sweetness and moderate hops. Far from undrinkable, but boring. I’d prefer Berentsens Rogalands Pils and Økologisk Pils to this one. I don’t really think it was a great service to the good people of Moss town to have this recipe revived. |

1767 | Spendrups Old Gold | Sweden | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml stylish bottle (new design), courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7% (ABV possibly adapted to Norwegian regulations). Pale yellow colour, big white head. Grainy aroma, also some sweetish vegetable notes. Moderate carbonation in the glass, soft mouthfeel. Acceptable flavour of pilsener malts and moderate hops (though I might still have been under the influence of the long hoppy aftertaste of my previous beer, BrewDog 77 Lager). Anyway, Old Gold Premium Pils has no noticeable off-flavours, and is far from undrinkable. Don’t expect anything exciting, though. |

1768 | Mack Lys Pils | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, thanks to OleR. ABV is 4.7%. Unpretentious name and label design from Mack this time. Pale golden colour, big white head. Tolerable but sweetish pilsener aroma, notes of apples, grass and flowers. The flavour is fresh, slightly fruity and fairly crisp, but the finish is too "empty", more hoppy bitterness would be desirable. Goes down well though. |

1769 | Hønefoss Brygghus 1716 Pilsner | Sweden | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, contract brewed by Krönleins Bryggeri, Sweden, for Hønefoss Brygghus, Norway - another "brewhouse" that does not brew. ABV is 4.7%. Thanks to OleR for procuring the bottle. The recommendation on the label to drink it "ice cold" makes me somewhat sceptical ... Golden colour, big white head. Acceptable pilsener aroma, moderately sweetish, notes of floral hops and some fruit. The flavour is fairly fresh and crisp, moderate sweetness, too moderate hops. Definitely drinkable, but not very "special" in any way. |

1770 | Det Lille Bryggeri Birkebeinerpilsen | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.8
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, at Østkantfolk, Oslo. ABV was 4.7%. Golden colour, low head. Very pleasant aroma of European hops, notes of heather. Very fizzy mouthfeel. Standard pilsener flavour, nothing wrong with it, nothing very special. Maybe a hint of birch sap and honey. More bitterness and less carbonation would be desirable. |

Crystal clear and very pale golden colour, large and lasting white head. Nice aroma of of fruity and floral aromatic hops, notes of honey, some sweetish malty aroma too. Light bodied, but there is also a subtle malty sweetness in the flavour, and moderate but distinct German hops throughout. Definitely a decent pilsener! |

1773 | Svaneke Bornholmerbryg Gammeldags Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.6%. Like all Svaneke / Bornholmer Bryg beers it is unfiltered, but the bottles are now pasteurised. (The beers are still available unpasteurised on tap in the brewpub.) Pale yellow colour, hazy. Large and lasting head. Pleasant aroma and flavour of flowery and fruity hops (3 different kinds are used, they don’t say which ones, my guess is Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, Tettnang and Spalt), there is a subtle base of pilsener malts, hints of honey. Some bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel, very pleasant to drink. A pilsener well above average. |

Cloudy when the sediment is poured. Moderate hops in the aroma, some flowery and honey notes. Refreshing hoppy flavour, well above average for a pilsener. |
