Dusty and malty aroma, hints of cigarbox as the beer warms up a lttle. Medium sweet flavour, malts, caramel, rye bread, mild roasty notes. Nice to drink.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Sauda. ABV is 6.7%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Nice malty aroma, hints of dark fruits and Christmas spices. The flavour is malty but not too sweet, notes of caramel and mild Christmas spices, hints of dark dried fruits, a faint hint of liquorice too. Very drinkable.

330 ml bottle, batch #599, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Deep reddish brown colour, moderately hazy. Moderate beige head. Aroma of medium roast malts, notes of burnt caramel and burnt breadcrumbs. The flavour has the same elements, with moderate bittering hops and more roast malts in the finish.

Febr. 2013: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Chestnut-coloured beer, moderate off-white head. The aroma has some caramel, dust and grass. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour has plenty of caramel but is not too sweet, also notes of brown bread, the spice addition (cinnamon, ginger, orange peel) is fairly moderate and quite mild. The bitterness is low. Certainly drinkable, but not really great.

330 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, moderate white head. Fresh and pleasant aroma, notes of herbal and slightly spicy hops, on a background of pale malts. The flavour is very fresh and fruity for a lager beer, also herbal and spicy notes. Easy drinking and fairly dry, but not thin - there are sufficient malts around. Has a nice alcoholic punch, but the alcohol does not dominate the flavour. More refined than other Maibocks / heller bocks I’ve had. Pleasant to drink, with food or on its own.

Malty and slightly sickly sweetish aroma, notes of molasses, oak and dark dried fruits. Rich malty flavour, sweet but not extreme, notes of caramel, molasses and brown kandij sugar. Minimal hops.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.9%. Golden colour, large white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and floral and herbal hops. Fairly sweet and malty flavour, notes of honey and caramel, moderate herbal hops, the alcohol is noticeable. A bit too far out on the sweet side for me.

355 ml slimline can, as Sixpoint The Crisp Pilsner, from Vinmonopolet Verksgata, Stavanger. ABV is 5.4%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma, with notes of grassy and floral hops. The flavour is medium sweet, and not as crisp as the name suggests. Decent bitterness in the finish though. Okay, but hardly a beer I’ll buy again.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.3%. Crystal clear and very pale golden colour, large white head. Very nice aroma of floral and herbal hops. Crisp flavour with plenty of bittering hops, has still some residual sweetness. Clearly a pilsener in the upper end of the scale.

500 ml can, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%. Gusher can. Slightly hazy pale yellow colour, huge white head. Aroma of citrus, grass, stone fruits and herbs (Saphir hops). The flavour is dry, herbal, spicy and moderately fruity. A good pilsener, if it wasn't overcarbonated.

The flavour has a slight malt sweetness, with a fairly sharp and slightly metallic and peppery bitterness in the finish.

Same beer as Tuborg Classic. I remember the Danish version as an acceptable lager with some caramel sweetness. Rerate, Norwegian version brewed by Ringnes, 500 ml can: ABV is 4.6%. Golden (deep golden, maybe) colour, moderate white head. Very moderate aroma, hints of malts, boiled vegetables, caramel and dust. The flavour has some malts and a little caramel sweetness, hints of boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Not much to write home about.

Pale yellow colour, pours very fizzy with a large to moderate white head. Strong sweetish aroma of pilsener malts, candy and grass. The flavour is bland and medium sweet, notes of malt sugar, not offensive, but has far too little bitterness to deserve to be called a "pilsener". Could have been worse though.

The flavour has sweetish malts and moderate herbal hops, fairly bitter aftertaste.
