1451 | Swannay (Highland) Orkney Best | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, thanks to my beerpal Olav who brought it home from the Orkneys. ABV is 3.6%. Crystal clear golden colour, big to moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops, notes of tropical fruits. Light bodied. Decent hoppy flavour, some fruitiness first, dry and "dusty" finish. Very nice for its moderate ABV. |

1452 | Arundel Sussex Gold | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, as Arundel Sussex Gold, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Brewed with East Kent Goldings, Fuggles and Cascade hops. Golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Aroma is surprisingly moderate, faint notes of aromatic hops. The hops come through in the flavour though, first some notes of "dusty" EKG, then more pronounced Cascade and Fuggles. A moderate grapefruity bitterness in the aftertaste. Refreshing and reasonably hoppy, not a bad beer, but I would guess the cask version has more going. |

1454 | Dark Star Sunburst | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, like a pils, some chill haze. Decent white head, nice lacing. Aroma has first strong notes of tropical fruits (aromatic hops), then the aroma subsides and I get moderate notes of honey and flowers. Moderate carbonation, soft moutheel. Flavour has first some moderate fruity notes, then a gentle hoppy bitterness takes you by the hand and leads you through the finish and aftertaste. The beer is light bodied, and is indeed one for those hot summer days - but I quite enjoyed it in the dead of December too. I imagine this would be a good "introduction ale" for lager louts - the first step into the world of better ales, so to speak. |

1455 | Otter Bright | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.3%. Pale golden colour (probably the palest British ale I’ve ever seen), slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Moderate fruity aroma. Flavour has some some citrussy notes and fairly decent hops, light bodied, dry bitter finish. In a blind test I might have guessed that this was a kölsch, or even a well-hopped pils. The lager malt used may explain that. An okay beer for a hot summer’s day, but I wouldn’t mind having some noticeable malts around, to balance the Fuggles hops. |

1456 | Ølve Jubileumsøl Steinkjer 150 år | Norway | Blonde Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Brewed for the 150th Anniversary/Jubilee of Steinkjer town. Unfiltered and unpasteurised, bottle conditioned. ABV is 4.7%. Pale yellow colour, slightly hazy, moderate white head. This beer is not "something completely different" to the degree of the "ordinary" Ølve på Egge (the latter is a presumed "Norse homebrew style" beer). This one is more like a British blonde ale, but notes of juniper branches in the moderate aroma and somewhat more distinct flavour still reminds you of its Norse heritage. Faint hints of smoke, tar and woodwork too. Light bodied, moderate hops in the finish. Worth a try. |

1461 | Okells Maclir | Isle of Man | Blonde Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at The Golden Lion, York. Served at correct temperature. Golden colour. Creamy head, nice lacing. Moderate wheaty and citrussy aroma. Pleasant wheaty and lemony / grapefruity flavour, soft mouthfeel, refreshing. Rerate, 500 ml bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon, Stavanger (also available at Vaaland, Bryne). ABV is 4.4%. Crystal clear pale golden colour (like a pilsener), big to moderate white head. The aroma is hoppy with grassy and citric notes. Refreshing hoppy flavour, ending in a grapefruity and slightly resinous bitterness, there is some malty sweetness but it is quite subdued. I thought the cask version had more of a wheaty character than the bottle. Well, the bottles are pasteurised, so that probably explains it. More of a "well hopped pilsener" character here. Not bad though. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Cask conditioned at The Lord Rosebery, Scarborough. ABV was 5.0%. Golden colour, like the name says crystal clear. Low creamy head. Very moderate aroma, nothing stands out. Very dry and "dusty" mouthfeel, a slight acidity in the moderate flavour. Not impressive. |

1466 | RCH Double Header | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned. ABV is 5.3%. Golden colour, hazy. Large and lasting off-white head. Nice hoppy / citrussy aroma. The flavour is also distinctly hoppy throughout, but there is also a noticeable presence of alcohol - in a blind test I would have guessed that the beer was somewhat stronger than 5.3%. There’s a moderate sweetness in the background. Moreish. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Cask conditioned at The Three Judges, Glasgow. Golden colour, minimal head. Lovely citrussy aroma, also with notes of flowers and tropical fruits. The hoppy flavour has also citrus and tropical fruits, much like Crouch Vale Brewers Gold Extra, but with a more distinct bitterness in the finish. Another great beer! |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at The Three Judges, Glasgow, as "Craigmill Brewery Strathaven Ales Duchess Anne Light Ale". 1471 | Black Isle Organic Yellowhammer | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, at The 78, Glasgow. My notes say "Black Isle Organic Yellowhammer IPA, ABV 4.5%" - but I might have been "under the influence" ... Deep golden colour, large and lasting head. Unusual fruity aroma, very complex. The mouthfeel is maybe a bit thin - I drank it too cold though. Reasonably fruity and hoppy flavour, but not very exciting. |

Golden coloured beer, creamy head. Very nice aroma of zesty and citrussy hops, notes of tropical fruits. The flavour is also quite fruity (with a hint of alcohol), moderate bitterness. |
