1428 | Valdres Kvek | Norway | Blonde Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Draught, sampled at Gladmat festivalen, Stavanger, served too cold. This is a light bodied golden ale with a low head, obviously brewed to satisfy the majority of Norwegian beer drinkers who believe that beer = pilsener. This will be the first ale that many of them have ever tasted, and as an introduction to the world of ales for "the ignorant multitude" this is acceptable. But the experienced ale drinker will find that "Kvek" (Valdres dialect for being quick, bright, alert, vigilant) has just too little of everything, even though there’s nothing wrong or offensive about it. Light maltiness and fruitiness in aroma and flavour. If given the choice, I’d prefer this ale to most pilseners, but if you have access to the products of the Valdres farm brewery, their "Staut" dark ale is the one you’ll want. Also sampled bottled, even more boring than from draught. |

1439 | Adnams East Green Carbon Neutral | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, now available in Norway. ABV is 4.3%. Crystal clear golden colour, big to moderate head. Moderate aroma of grain and citrussy hops. The flavour is dry and refreshing with distinct and pleasant notes of citrussy Boadicea hops throughout, but the malts do not come up front. Moderate but nice bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. All the "environment friendly" hype aside, this is a fairly decent refreshment ale, not exceptional but nice enough. |

1445 | Valhalla White Wife Shetland Ale | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Like all bottled beers from this brewery, it is filtered to remove all remaining yeast (but possibly not pasteurised?). ABV is 4.5%. Deep orange to amber colour, some chill haze. Moderate white head. Moderate aroma, some grainy and hoppy notes. The flavour is quite dry, first some sharpish grainy notes, then even more sharpish hops in the finish. A bit too far out on the dry side for me. |

Nice hoppy aroma, notes of fruits, berries and pine forest. The flavour is zesty and fruity with a nice hop character, some citrus notes, a piney bitterness in the finish. I’ve said it before: I’m a sucker for golden ales like this one, with their moderate ABV and refreshingly hoppy character. |

1448 | Harboe Skælskør Original Pale Ale | Denmark | Blonde Ale | 2.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Harboe is not mentioned anywhere on the label, so they obviously try to fake an impression of this beer being brewed in a micro brewery. Their "pilsener type pale ale" is another evidence that these clowns know absolutely nothing about brewing good beer. Golden colour, moderate white head. "Chemical" and "artificial" aroma, sweetish notes of candy and harsh butter. Pale lager flavour, fizzy mouthfeel, dusty and metallic hops in the finish. A poor beer, but not totally undrinkable. |

Nothing wrong with it, but boring. |

1450 | Ekspedisjonen Bitter Harding | Norway | Blonde Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at the brewpub. The brewer calls this an IPA, but it tastes more like a modern English Golden Ale or Bitter. Golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but nice hoppy aroma, citrussy notes. Pleasant flavour, refreshing, moderate but nice bitterness. |
