876 | DeuS (Brut Des Flandres) | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Shared bottle at RBNAG 2011 in Oslo, as Deus Brut des Flandres Cuvée Prestige 2010. Clear and sparkling straw coloured beer. Dryish aroma, moderate but very pleasant farmhouse notes. Very dry and crisp flavour, no doubt a fine beer, but is it worth the high price? |

877 | Avery Salvation | United States | Belgian Strong Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 Shared bottle at RBNAG 2011 in Oslo. Why are always the best beers served near the end of the tasting? Golden to amber colour, this is a Belgian-style golden strong ale, with lovely spicy and fruity notes in both aroma and flavour. Well balanced and not too sweet. Very good. |

878 | Mikkeller It’s Alive! Hvidvinsfadlagret | Denmark | Belgian Strong Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 375 ml green bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.0%. Cloudy amber to orange colour, huge off-white head. Lovely aroma of farmhouse / brettanomyces, also a fruity and spicy character with hints of Gewürztraminer. The flavour has a pretty strong brettanomyces character, spicy and oaky notes, and a distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish. The alcohol is noticeable, but not dominant. Good stuff. |

880 | Weihenstephaner / Samuel Adams Infinium | Germany | Belgian Strong Ale | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 750 ml very elegant corked bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. ABV is 10.5%. Crystal clear golden colour, pours very sparkling with huge white head. Slightly "unfresh" aroma of "Belgian" ale yeast, mild spices and stale marmalade, hints of alcohol and solvent. The flavour has also an "unfresh" character, notes of stale fruit, stale hops, alcohol and a hint of caramel. Whatever the idea behind this beer, it was poorly executed. Disappointing. |

882 | Millevertus Saint-Denis | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Bottle, at Delirium Café, Göteborg. Hazy, deep golden colour. The last beer of the evening, and it may be safely said that I was ... duh, slightly intoxicated ... at that moment, but I still had the ability to notice that this was another decent Belgian, well worth being sampled as the FIRST beer of the evening - at another occasion ... |

883 | Barbar Belgian Honey Ale / Barbar Blonde | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 Bottle, at The Rover, Göteborg. This beer includes 2.5% honey. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Pleasant but not very strong flowery aroma, some honey but not dominant. Flavour is sweetish, but not much is going on besides the honey. Alcohol is well hidden, though. |

893 | Delirium Noel | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 750 ml painted (mock stoneware) corked bottle, now available in Norway (despite some objections by the humour & morality police). Amber to brown colour, large off-white head with an orangey hue. Malty sweetish aroma with strong notes of caramel, treacle and Christmas spices, also notes of yeast and oak. Flavour is very spicy and sweet (candy sugar) with a pleasant warming mouthfeel. There’s a hoppy and spicy (and slightly alcoholic) bite in the finish. A demanding beer, but not bad. |

897 | Malheur 12 | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 250 ml bottle, bought in Frederikshavn, Denmark. Hazy dark brown colour, large tan head. Pleasant aroma of dark malts, hops, chocolate, oak and bakery. Flavour is heavy dark malts, sweet, oaky and spicy. Hoppy finish. Warming mouthfeel as expected from a 12% ABV beer, there’s a certain "raw" and alcoholic edge (not entirely pleasant) that probably would benefit from a few years in a cellar. Powerful stuff, with a potential for improvement! |
