6426 | The Cannabis Club Sud | Germany | Spiced Beer | 1.0
Aroma: 2 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 Woooah! Eureka! I found it! The worst beer in the world! Strange yellow/orange colour, like your morning urine when you have the flu and have been drinking too little. Smells and tastes like undefined nauseous industrial waste. (The hemp oil, I guess). Absolutely horrid, disgusting, abominable, appalling, detestable. Has anyone ever bought a SECOND bottle of this? Every school kid should be given a free bottle of this "beer" to keep them away from cannabis forever. Down the toilet it went (didn't want to contaminate the kitchen sink). I still shudder when I think of it. |

6427 | Nøgne Ø Underlig Jul | Norway | Spiced Beer | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 (Bottle conditioned, 500 ml). Another new Yule/Christmas beer from the craft brewers of Nøgne Ø. Very dark brown to ruby colour, decent head. Nice aroma of dark malts, caramel and spices (cardamom and cloves). Unashamedly sweet with a velvety mouthfeel, but not cloying. Rich and malty flavour with caramel, distinct cardamom and cloves (also some ginger and nutmeg??). Sufficient hops and spices in the aftertaste. Very good beer! I’m sure it’s nice enough with cookies, but definitely a treat on its own! |

6428 | Doreleï | France | Spiced Beer | 2.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml clear swingtop & silk print bottle, bought in France. Deep golden to amber colour, decent head and lacing. Unusual sweetish fruity and candy aroma, notes of cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, herbs and boiled vegetables too. Sweetish and sugary flavour, notes of vanilla, cinnamon and other spices. Lagerish mouthfeel. I don’t quite know what to make of this beer - it’s something out of the ordinary, but in the end it’s just too sugary and weird for my taste. |

6429 | Trégor Sant Patern / Saint Paterne | France | Spiced Beer | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, bought at Mahlers Vinhandel, Frederikshavn, Denmark. Hazy golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Very nice yeasty, fruity and spicy aroma. Started drinking it too cold, but spices and herbs (various), moderate malts and fairly decent hops come through. Refreshing and pleasant, fairly dry. Not a bad beer. |

6430 | Herslev Aspargesøl | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Cloudy golden colour. Aroma of asparagus! Flavour of citrus and asparagus, hints of cloves. A fun experiment, but I’m sorry - I’d rather have a bowl of asparagus soup with an "ordinary" wheat beer at the side. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 355 ml bottle, shared with OleR at Olympen, Oslo. American Wheat Ale with orange zest, lemon zest, coriander and peppercorns. Hazy golden colour, low white head. Sourish bread dough aroma, also hints of citrus and coriander. Sourish (house character?) flavour with notes of citrus. Could use more coriander, and definitely more hops. |

6435 | Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela No. 1 | United States | Spiced Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 750 ml bottle, batch #617, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.9%. Hazy deep golden to amber colour, large white head. Strong sweetish aroma of marmalade, cider apples, oak, farmhouse, vinegar and pickled pumpkin. The flavour is sour / acidic with notes of vinegar and pickled pumpkin. Not my cup of tea. |

6436 | Ørbæk Fynsk Forår | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Rúsan, Torshavn. ABV is 5%. It’s ironic that I had to go to the Faroes to finally buy this - I have passed it in numerous Danish supermarkets, under the delusion that I already had rated it. Well, here we go: Pale golden colour, slightly hazy, moderate to low white head. Grassy and floral aroma, but the elderflowers are not distinct. Refreshing and pleasant flavour, citrussy and floral notes. Low bitterness. Wheaty character, hints of cloves. Not a real masterpiece, but nice and drinkable on a fine summer’s day. |

High level of carbonation in the mouth. Strong aroma and flavour of spelt, honey and chamomile, also notes of white kandi sugar and "Belgian" ale yeast. Noticeable hops in the finish. Quite good. |

6438 | Aarhus Julebryg | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 600 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.0%. Copper colour, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of orange peel and hops, hints of spices. Refreshing flavour, notes of oranges, cloves and hops, nice bitterness in the finish. Quite enjoyable. Must be excellent with the Danish Christmas duck. |

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 750 ml liqueur-style bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV is 5.2%. Black colour, ruby in the highlights, large beige head. Nice aroma of lightly roasted malts, chocolate and tobacco. Lovely rounded and mellow flavour of moderately roasted malts, chocolate, mild coffee and liquorice, just a hint of tobacco. |

6441 | Skands Esrum Kloster | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought by my wife on the DFDS ferry Oslo - Copenhagen. ABV is 7.5%. Spiced with lemon balm, lavender, rosemary, juniper berries and anise. Deep copper to mahogany coloured beer, big off-white head. Spicy aroma, unfortunately anise (which is not my favourite herb) comes up front. Also hints of caramel malts. The flavour is also spicy and herbal, with moderate notes of caramel malts. Again the anise ruins much of the pleasure for me. This would be a better beer without it. |

6442 | Fanø Lynghvede | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Unfiltered. Brewed with heather flowers, lavender and chamomile flowers. Hazy yellow colour. Moderate aroma of said flowers/herbs. The flavour is very mild, with only a moderate presence of the above. I think I would have skipped the lavender, used more heather, and added a little more hops. Still, it is always nice when brewers dare to use some of the many fine wild growing herbs we have in Scandinavia. |

6443 | Beer Here Nordic Rye | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 4.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 500 ml bottle, from Beer2000, thanks! ABV is 8%. Dark reddish brown colour, moderate but lasting creamy off-white to beige head, leaves a nice lacing in the glass. "Farmhouse" aroma with some vinous and woody notes. The flavour is medium sweet and malty with notes of ripe berries and dark dried fruits, also oaky notes, distinct hops in the finish. Very good. |

6444 | Herslev Bryghus Gorms Bryg | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 2.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml bottle, brew #449, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 5.5%. Amber to copper colour, slightly hazy. Moderate head, slightly off-white. The aroma has notes of ripe berries and caramel, hints of honey, but also unpleasant notes of rotting green apples and ammonium. The medium sweet flavour has some malts, caramel and rotting fruits, and has an overall coarse character of not very successful homebrew, possibly infected. Low bitterness. This is undoubtedly the least attractive brew I’ve had from Herslev. |

6445 | Jacobsen Skovmærke (Forårsbryg) | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Shared 750 ml bottle, as Jacobsen Forårsbryg, from a Danish grocery store. Chestnut colour, moderate off-white head. Unusual and interesting spicy, herbal and floral (Galium odoratum) aroma and flavour. "Christmas spices" come through distinctly in the flavour, despite this beeing a spring seasonal. A nice surprise - props to Jacobsen / Carlsberg for brewing something out of the ordinary. |

6446 | Jolly Pumpkin / Nøgne Ø / Stone Collababeire Special Holiday Ale | United States | Spiced Beer | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, blend 4, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9%. Cloudy dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Some sediment in the bottle, you’re in for floaties if you pour too vigorously in the end. Strong sourish and vinous aroma, with notes of Flemish red ales and red wine vinegar. Sour flavour with notes of oak, red wine vinegar, herbs and spices, noticeable hops in the finish. Quite interesting, but requires that you’re into the sour stuff. |

Lovely roasty aroma, notes of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and hickory smoke / bonfires. The flavour is also roasty and smoky, medium dry. A distinct chili burn in the finish and aftertaste. Quite good. |

6449 | BrewDog Santa Paws | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 4.1
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet (bestillingsutvalget). Batch #245. ABV is 8.2%. Brewed with cocoa nibs and ginger stems. Pitch black colour, big brown head. Very nice sweetish aroma of ginger, fresh Christmas cookies and cocoa. The flavour has strong notes of ginger, pepper and chocolate chip cookies. Some roasty coffee notes too, with a hoppy and roasty bitterness in the finish. Maybe a bit too far out on the "cookies" side, but an interesting and tasty beer all the same. Had no problems finishing the bottle. |

6450 | BrewDog There Is No Santa | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, batch #297, bought at Coop OBS, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Dark brown to black colour, big beige head. Strong sweetish aroma of ginger, cocoa and oranges. Light bodied, can’t be expected to be a match for its big brother Santa Paws. Fairly refreshing flavour, not very sweet, strong notes of ginger and cocoa, bitter and peppery finish. Seems somewhat unbalanced with all its spiciness, lacks a malty backbone. |
