April 2015: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Distinct aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, wine yeast, lemons and green and black peppercorns. The flavour is medium dry, a slight acidity but not really sour, distinctly yeasty, with loads of green and black peppercorns. Not very bitter. Unusual and interesting, but maybe too yeasty?

July 2015: Small sample from 355 ml bottle, at a 4th of July tasting. Promising and nice farmhouse kitchen / brett aroma, but the flavour was too thin, bland and not very interesting. The Motueka hops did not come through as much as I’d like. Might sample again, but not if I have to pay for the bottle myself.

August 2021: 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5%. Hazy / murky yellow-ish colour, some floaties, moderate white head. Aroma of quince, pears, apples, citrus, farmhouse. Moderately fruity sour flavour, notes of said fruits, dust and malts. Hints of black pepper.

Feb. 2014: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.4%. Slightly hazy deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of brettanomyces, barnyard, dust and some spice. Moderate carbonation in the mouth. The flavour is not too sweet, but not dry either. Not sour (which I expected, as they have used brettanomyces lambicus). Yeasty notes, and a sharp hoppy bite in the finish and aftertaste. Not really great in my book, To Øl have better beers than this.

330 ml can, as Jåttå Slåtten Saison, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Hazy golden to orange colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of malts, spicy saison yeast and yellow plums. The flavour has the same elements, also some citric notes, bitter aftertaste.

750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Moderately gushing bottle, better have the glass ready! Golden colour, clear first, cloudy later. Large white head. Intense, complex and lovely farmhouse and rustic kitchen aroma, hints of mild spices and oaked apple cider. The flavour is medium dry and crisp, again with mild spicy and moderate oaky notes. Some fruitiness too. Moderate but noticeable hops. Refreshing and delightful.

July 2015: Small sample from bottle, at a 4th of July tasting. Gusher bottle, like every beer I’ve had from Logsdon. The remaining contents were nice though - a fine farmhouse ale. Brett and oak in aroma and flavour. Might well sample again.

July 2020: 750 ml bottle, vintage 2020, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Golden colour, large to moderate white head. Lovely aroma of spicy saison yeast, brettanomyces, farmhouse kitchen, apple cider, oak, hints of fresh fruits and lactid acid. Rustic flavour with spicy saison yeast, brettanomyces, oak, moderate lactic acid, hints of lemons. Moderate bitterness. A very good beer!

750 ml bottle, Cuvée 2018, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.7%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of aged white wine, oak, farmhouse, gueuze lambic. Medium sour flavour, notes of brettanomyces, oak, moderate "spicy" saison yeast, moderate hops.

July 2020: 750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Moderately hazy pale yellow colour, small white head. Lovely and strong aroma of cider apples, farmhouse, oak and spicy saison yeast. The flavour is medium dry, with notes of sour and bitter cider apples, saison yeast and moderate hops, hints of grapefruit and tannins.

May 2018: 750 ml bottle, vintage 2017, from Vinmonopolet Jørpeland. ABV is 7.5%. Hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Beguiling aroma of spicy saison yeast, white wine oak barrels and lambic / brettanomyces / farmhouse. Moderately sour flavour, again notes of spicy saison yeast, oaked wine and brettanomyces, also lemons and distinct spicy hops. Excellent beer - expensive, but worth it.

440 ml can, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.5%. Hazy yellow colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma, notes of Nelson Sauvin hops (crushed gooseberries and white grapes), also notes of mild spices and herbs. Citric and somewhat fizzy mouthfeel, light bodied as expected. The flavour has citrus and fairly distinct spices and hops.

Pleasant aroma of grapefruit, white wine, oak, brettanomyces, white wine vinegar and spicy saison yeast. Sour flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, also noticeable bittering hops.

March 2015: 375 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. 2014 / Batch 11. ABV is 4.2%. Golden colour, low white head. Pleasant brettanomyces aroma, notes of farmhouse kitchen and mild spices, hints of oaked cider. The flavour has a moderate acidity, slightly tart, with fruity (esp. lemons) and spicy notes. Easy drinking and refreshing.

Feb. 2015: 375 ml bottle, as Crooked Stave Surette Provision Saison Artisan Ale Aged in Oak Barrels, 2014 batch 13. ABV is 6.2%. At Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Slightly hazy golden colour, low white head of poor retention. Sourish aroma, strong notes of farmhouse, lemons, white wine vinegar and oak. Very sour and lemony flavour, medium dry, nearly like an unblended lambic, some oaky notes. Not a saison by any stretch of the mind.

Nov. 2017: 330 ml bottle, received from Vinmonopolet (Nettbutikken) appr. 1 year after BB date (23/07/16). ABV is 6.1%, 53 IBU. Slightly hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity, floral and spicy hops (Sladek), also notes of Szechuan pepper. Distinctly peppery and slightly dry flavour, notes of spicy saison yeast and herbal / spicy hops. Tastes a bit "off" in the finish. Probably better when fresher.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Red colour, large of-white head. Aroma of hibscus, ripe raspberries and farmhouse, some lactic acid. Refreshing flavour of hibiscus and raspberries, not too sweet, nor too sour.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 4.8%. Moderately hazy golden colour, small and shortlived white head. Aroma of tea and orange peel, also notes of spices. Citric flavour, medium sour, notes of lemons, orange peel and tea. Kind of refreshing, but hardly a beer I'll buy again.

Dec. 2016: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Malts are Munich, pilsener and wheat, hops are Apollo, Saaz and Sladek, dry hopped with Hallertau Blanc. Clear pale golden colour, huge white head. Aroma of herbal and grassy hops, hints of white grapes and mild spices. The flavour is refreshing and medium dry, with distinct herbal hops throughout, some peppery notes, hints of white grapes again.
