601 | Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 12 fl. oz. / 355 ml bottle, bought at the GBBF 2008 for takeaway. ABV is 6.0%. Amber to orange colour, pours very fizzy with a moderate head. The aroma has a dominant malty sweetness, also notes of caramel, honey and moderate fruity hops. The flavour also has a dominant sweetneess (too sweet), then grapefruity hops make their presence known, leading to a distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. |

602 | Left Hand Jackmans Pale Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 12 fl. oz. / 355 ml bottle, bought at the GBBF 2008 for takeaway. ABV is 5.2%. Amber colour, moderate head. Interesting aroma, notes of ripe berries, flowers, caramel and some wood. The flavour has first a noticeable malty presence, then slightly subdued fruity American hops take over (a little more hops would not hurt!), leading to a moderately bitter and piney finish and aftertaste. |

606 | Anchor Liberty Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Imported to Europe by www.bierenco.nl . ABV is 5.9%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, large head. Lovely Cascade aroma, citrus fruits and tropical fruits abound. Pleasant hoppy flavour - more in terms of "depth of flavour" than actual bitterness. Soft mouthfeel. Some hops in the aftertaste too. A nice beer! |

607 | Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 355 ml can, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Deep golden to amber colour, big off-white head with an orangey hue. Strong aroma of American hops, fruity notes, hints of pine and marmalade. The flavour has also loads of hops, but they are fairly well balanced with the malts. There is a substantial bitterness in the finish and long aftertaste, with piney and grapefruity notes. |

609 | Svaneke Bornholmer Bryg Skipper Clements American Pale Ale | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Unfiltered APA. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate carbonation. The aroma has notes of fruity American hops, but unfortunately also strong and disgusting notes of vomit. The flavour has moderate but decent hops throughout, but lacks a bit of malty backbone. Bitter aftertaste. What a pity about the aroma! A bad bottle? If that was the case, I’d think the flavour would be flawed too? |

610 | Ørbæk ØPA | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Organic. Pale golden colour, like a pilsener. Huge white head. Pleasant aroma of Cascade hops, citrussy and herbal notes. Light bodied. The flavour is "dusty" and fairly bitter, but could use a malty backbone and more complexity. Bitter aftertaste, slightly metallic. |

612 | Two Brothers The Bitter End | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 12 fl. oz bottle, thanks to BA richgo6. 12.5 degrees Plato, 36 IBU. ABV is 5.1%. Amber coloured beer, decent off-white head. Very nice aroma of fruity hops, notes of grapefruit, rambutan and blackcurrant leaves, hints of toffee and resin too. The flavour is maltier and less hoppy than the aroma made me expect, but the hops are still noticeable. Moderate resiny notes, some sweetness, quiet finish. Not bad. |

615 | Stoudts American Pale Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 12 fl. oz bottle, thanks to BA richgo6. Orange coloured beer, large and lasting off-white head with an orangey hue. Initially very nice Cascade aroma, citrus and floral notes, diminishes after a while in the glass. The flavour is very well balanced between the malts and hops, Cascade and Warrior hops have a distinct presence throughout, but are not overdone. Bitter aftertaste. A very drinkable and refreshing beer! |

618 | HaandBryggeriet Sen Sommer Ale | Norway | American Wheat | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, batch #130, at Parkteatret’s "Beer Day", Oslo. ABV is 6.0%. There are rumours that this really is the very same beer as HaandBryggeriet Påskegodt, but I find that hard to believe - Sen Sommer Ale is sweeter than I remember Påskegodt to have ever been. A side-by-side tasting is needed to settle that question, methinks. Hazy amber to orange colour, moderate head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops. Sweet flavour (slightly too much sweetness) with plenty of fruity hops. Moderately bitter finish. |

619 | Aass Jule Hvete | Norway | American Wheat | 3.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 330 ml brown bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon. The first top-fermented beer from Aass in years (they had a brief and unsuccessful try with Aass Hveteøl in 1986). Reddish amber colour. Large and lingering off-white head. Aroma is fruity and moderately spicy, quite nice. Flavour is fruity sweet & sour, with notes of caramel malts. Thin and watery mouthfeel. Not much hops around, weak notes of "dusty" hops and some spice in the finish. Props to Aass for taking a few steps down the Ale Road, but they have a long way to go! |
