6026 | Thisted Mørk Dana Hvidtøl | Denmark | Reduced Alcohol | 2.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Danish "hvidtøl" really are a style of their own - very dark brown, malty and sweet wheat beers with very little alcohol. This is one of them. Sweetish flavour. Maybe the kids will like it? I don't. (Actually, Danish kids are often allowed to have these beers with their rice pudding on Christmas eve, which leads them to keep a soft spot for "hvidtøl" for the rest of their lives). |

6029 | Grans Julefri | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 2.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml green bottle. Non-alcoholic Yule/Christmas beer, sold only in REMA 1000 stores. Mahogany coloured beer, big beige head. Typical n/a beer aroma of malts, baby porridge and over-boiled vegetables. The flavour is malty with hints of caramel, not too sweet, lacks hops and any kind of "bite", but is not undrinkable. |

6030 | Bitburger Radler | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 1.5
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 Bottle (or was it can?), ABV 2.5%, at RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. The first radler or shandy that I’ve actually rated. Pale golden colour, low head. Aroma of lemon soda and dishwater liquid. Flavour of lemon soda with hints of a standard pilsener. |

6031 | Three Hearts Jul Svagdricka | Sweden | Reduced Alcohol | 2.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 500 ml bottle, bought in Sweden. ABV is 2.2%. Ingredients include saccharin. Deep copper to mahogany colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Moderate aroma of bakery and toast, fairly nice. The flavour is very malty with loads of caramel and saccharin sweetness, too sweet maybe (I think they should have skipped or reduced the saccharin), minimal hops, hints of Christmas spices. However, it is rather nice to drink a low alcohol beer that is not flavourless and watery. |

6032 | Hansa Pilsner Null% | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 1.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 3 500 ml can. To call this n/a beer a "pilsner" is a bit of an atrocity. Clear pale golden colour, fluffy white head. The aroma has the usual sickly and sweetish "boiled" notes (over-boiled vegetables, baby maize porridge) that you find in most n/a beers. The flavour is also slightly sweetish and bland with minimal hops. Won’t buy again. |

6033 | Dalane Brygghus Bedehusbajer | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 1.4
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 500 ml bottle, at Gladmatfestivalen 2008, Stavanger. ABV was 2.5%. Brewed with quinoa (Chenopodium). Very cloudy pale brown colour, low head. Looks like unfiltered apple juice. Minimal aroma, some yeast and hints of quinoa. Bland and sweetish flavour of quinoa, rather unpleasant. Quinoa is OK in soft drinks, but not in beer - at least not in this one. Couldn't finish the bottle. Drainpour. |

6034 | Neumarkter Lammsbräu Weisse Alkoholfrei | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 1.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 500 ml bottle, bought at ULTRA Stadionparken, Stavanger. Like all Neumarkter Lammsbräu beers it is organic ("õkologisch"). Cloudy straw coloured beer, large white head. The aroma has the standard n/a "boiled" notes (over-boiled vegetables, grit or porridge) The flavour has some of the same notes, but is fairly bland. Some weak citrussy notes make the beer tolerably refeshing when cold. If you MUST have a n/a beer, this one is not the worst of its kind, but it is not a beer you’ll want to go to for great taste. |

6035 | Neumarkter Lammsbräu Alkoholfrei | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 2.1
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml green bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Like all Neumarkter Lammsbräu beers, it is organic. This n/a pale lager is one of their 3-4 different n/a beers. Pale golden colour with a slight chill haze, moderate head. Strong sweetish aroma of wort and cooked vegetables, also some flowery aromatic hops with hints of honey. The flavour is quite sweet and malty, with some hints of over-boiled vegetables and maize baby porridge, but better than many other n/a beers. There are also some moderate hops around. Acceptable, if you have to drive. |

6036 | Cobra Alcohol Free Lager | United Kingdom | Reduced Alcohol | 1.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml green bottle, as "Cobra Extra Smooth Alcohol Free Premium Beer", courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Crystal clear pale golden colour, decent head. Sweetish typical n/a lager aroma: maize (corn) and boiled vegetables. The flavour is sweetish with minimal hops, pretty bad, but the beer is not completely undrinkable when ice cold. |

6037 | Atna Riksøl | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 330 ml green bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Hazy golden colour (like a hefeweizen), moderate head. Quite nice aroma, notes of yeast, wood and heather. Smooth mouthfeel, light bodied. Refreshing flavour with a distinct hoppy bitterness in finish. Very bitter aftertaste. None of the "boiled" notes of other n/a beers. This is, par excellence, the best n/a beer I’ve ever tasted (but then most of the others have been pretty bad). |

6038 | Kaliber | Ireland | Reduced Alcohol | 1.3
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 330 ml green bottle, bought in Sweden. Crystal clear very pale yellow colour, big to moderate white head. Typical n/a beer aroma of over-boiled vegetables and baby maize porridge. Thin and watery mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of over-boiled vegetables and wet cardboard, hardly any bitterness. Terrible. |

6039 | Karmi Poema di Caffe | Poland | Reduced Alcohol | 2.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 400 ml clear bottle, thanks to my son Steinar. Bought in Poland. ABV is 0.5%. Very dark brown coffee-like colour, big and lasting beige head. Strong sweetish aroma of coffee, vanilla and chocolate. The flavour is very sweet with strong notes of chocolate and vanilla, the coffee is more subdued here. Tastes like a chocolate drink, blindfolded I would never have guessed that this was a beer. Weird, but not totally undrinkable. |

6040 | Jever Fun | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 2.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml green bottle, bought in Sweden. Non-alcoholic. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, big and lasting white head. The aroma has first a fresh "skunky" whiff when opening the bottle, then the usual n/a beer notes of over-boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Also some sweetish notes of candy, hints of grassy hops. Fairly thin mouthfeel, as expected. The flavour is moderately citrussy and grassy, making the beer quite drinkable and refreshing - for a n/a beer, that is. Hints of hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Could have been worse. |

6041 | Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Alkoholfrei | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 2.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 500 ml bottle, bought in Sweden. ABV is 0.5%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, huge white head. The aroma has some hefeweizen notes of banana and cloves, but also hints of the more typical n/a beer notes like over-boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Not quite as bad as many other n/a beers, though. The mouthfeel is thin, as expected. The bland flavour has some weak notes of citrus and wheat malts, hardly any noticeable hops. |

6042 | Störtebeker 1402 Alkoholfrei | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 1.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml bottle, bought in Sweden. ABV max. 0.5%. Crystal clear very pale yellow colour, big white head. Typical n/a beer aroma of baby porridge and over-boiled vegetables. Moderate carbonation in the glass, soft mouthfeel. The flavour has also the usual n/a beer "over-boiled" character. However, there are noticeable hops, also hints of citrus, making the beer a tad better than "undrinkable". Very far from "good", though. |

6043 | Ceres Hvidtøl | Denmark | Reduced Alcohol | 2.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 1.9%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black (the name "hvidtøl" = "white beer" for this Danish style is slightly amusing). Moderate beige head. Moderate aroma of malts, caramel and dust. The flavour is very malty and sugary sweet, notes of caramel and Danish pastry. No bitterness. |

6044 | Kongens Bryg Prima Mørkt Hvidtøl | Denmark | Reduced Alcohol | 2.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 1.7%. Ingredients include liquorice, sugar and colour E150c (also barley malts and hops). Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Malty and sugary aroma, notes of brown bread, caramel and dust. The flavour is malty and very sugary / syrupy, extremely sweet, notes of caramel. Too far out on the sweet side for me. |

6045 | Maisels Weisse Alkoholfrei | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 2.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy brownish golden colour, big and lasting white head. The usual n/a beer aroma of baby porridge, but also notes of malts, with some wheaty hints of cloves. Soft mouthfeel, light bodied but tolerably refreshing when cold. The flavour has again notes of baby porridge, also over-boiled vegetables and dusty malts. A slight citrussy acidity. Minimal hops, bland finish. |

6049 | Grans Lett Julegran | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 2.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml green bottle. Like all Grans beers, it is available only in REMA 1000 stores. Bronze coloured beer, large off-white head. The aroma has notes of malts, caramel and cooked vegetables, hints of spices. Fairly thin mouthfeel, as expected from a 2.4% beer, but the flavour actually has SOME malts and hops, with a slightly sourish finish - so the beer is a little "better" than I feared. |

6050 | Munkholm Classic | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 1.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 500 ml can. Pale golden colour, decent white head. The usual n/a sickly "boiled" notes (over-boiled vegetables, maize grit) in the aroma (and to some extent in the flavour too). The flavour also has some malty sweetness and noticeable hops, which means that the beer is not totally undrinkable. I’d be fairly desperate for something cold and wet if I ever buy this n/a beer again, though. |
