5303 | Collingwood Withersfield Mytton Mild | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Totally flat, no natural carbonation. Black (=dark reddish brown) colour. Not very strong but pleasant aroma: liquorice, coffee and tobacco. Flavour has some malts, liquorice, thin coffee - but leaves a rather thin mouthfeel. |

5304 | Felstar Good Knight | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask conditioned at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Listed as a cross between a mild and a porter, which indeed it is - an interesting one, too. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Quite sweet and malty flavour. Not bad at all. |

5305 | Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 Cask conditioned at The Three Judges, Glasgow, as "Sarah Hughes Ruby Ale" - I presume this is the same beer? Very dark ruby colour, creamy head. Moderate malty aroma with caramel. The flavour is very malty and sweet with loads of caramel, slightly roasty. Decent hops in the finish. Not easy drinking, but nice. |

5307 | Shiga Kogen Tamamura Honten Nøgne Ø Not So Mild Ale | Japan | Mild Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, as "Tamamura Honten Nøgne Ø Not So Mild Ale - Harvest Brew Fresh Hop" (the rest of the info on the label is in Japanese). Murky dark brown colour, moderate to low greyish beige head. Nice but moderate aroma of mild ale malts, chocolate malts and some fruity hops. The flavour is fairly fruity, but has also a moderate roastiness with mild coffee and chocolate notes. The finish has sufficient hops to make it "not so mild". No masterpiece perhaps, but highly drinkable. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.0%. Chestnut coloured beer, big light tan head. Aroma of berries and malts, hints of toffee. The flavour is brimming with fruit/berries, caramel and malts, but is not too sweet, with a pleasant hoppy bitterness and some chocolate notes in the finish. Excellent beer, and quite amazing that it is only 4%. |

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 Cask at the GBBF 2008. ABV was said to be 3.8%. Black colour, reddish brown in the highlights. Lovely complex aroma, roasted malts, oak, dark fruits, chocolate and liquorice. Nicely balanced flavour between the malts and hops, there is an assertive bitterness but it is not overdone. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon, Stavanger. Probably not bottle conditioned. ABV of the bottled version is 4.0%. Very dark brown colour (nearly black), creamy beige head. Moderate but pleasant aroma, fruity (plums/prunes) with a moderate roastiness, notes of mild coffee in the background, hints of chocolate. The flavour is smooth and nice with subtle notes of roast malts, chocolate and mild coffee, balanced by a certain fruitiness and moderate hops in the finish. A decent dark mild this one. |

5318 | Kinn Manna | Norway | Mild Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 Cask at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark ruby colour, low off-white head. Roasty aroma, notes of cold coffee, hints of ashes. Dry flavour, notes of cold coffee and ashes again, the mouthfeel is rather thin. As the Biblical manna that God "miraculously" provided for the Israelites in the desert (actually a natural plant secretion, according to more recent research) was reported to be "sweet like honey", I expected Kinn Manna to be a somewhat sweeter and richer beer than this. Drinkable of course, but not Kinn’s most exciting offering. |

OG 1037, FG 1011, IBU 22.1. Hops are Premiant and Sladek. Unfiltered. "Each label scratched by a genuine cat." Dark brown colour, large beige head. Intense aroma of pine wood, stale sea water and ashes, possibly infected? The flavour is lactic and smooth, a slight roastiness, just a hint of wood and sea water. |

5322 | Løkken Mørk Kutterøl | Denmark | Mild Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5.2%. Very dark brown to ruby colour, nearly black. Big to moderate beige head. Fairly nice aroma with a mild roastiness, notes of caramel, mild coffee and some fruit. The flavour has basically the same elements as the aroma, but with less caramel and a very slight acidity. Hints of chocolate too. Dry aftertaste. As a "strong dark mild", this is not too bad! |

5323 | Kinn Svart Hav | Norway | Mild Ale | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Rerate, 750 ml bottle, courtesy of the brewer. Black colour, big and lasting brown head. Roasty aroma, notes of coffee and liquorice, hints of dark chocolate. The flavour is also roasty (yes, I admit this is a dry stout rather than a dark mild), with a distinct bitter coffee aftertaste. I’m upping it a point . Original rating: ask / hand pump at Nabokjelleren, Bergen. Black colour, moderate tan head. Pleasant aroma of dark malts, hints of liquorice, fruity and vinous notes. Moderately roasty flavour, some fruity and slightly acidic notes in the background, coffee in the aftertaste. More of a dark mild than a dry stout in my book. |

5324 | Nøgne Ø Not So Mild Ale | Norway | Mild Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Nice aroma, floral and fruity with a hint of chocolate and smoke. Light bodied. The flavour has notes of lightly roasted malts, nuts, chocolate and moderate hops. (Might have been even less hoppy than I thought it was, as I may still have been influended by the aftertaste of the IPA I had before.) |

5325 | Craigmill Strathaven Craigmill Mild Black Ale | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.5%. Black colour, large to moderate greyish-brown head. Dryish roasty aroma with notes of ashes, woodwork, cold coffee and unsweetened cocoa, a hint of fruity hops. Too much carbonation in the mouth. Dry roasty flavour, notes of wood and cold coffee, moderate and slightly resinous hops in the finish. Will try again if I can find it on cask, but the bottle (overpriced in Norway) does not inspire me to buy another. |
