5101 Ringnes Extra Norway Lager 2.9

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

Not very successful, medium strong golden lager. Did not sell well. Discontinued. When it was discontinued, the stronger Ringnes Gold changed its name to "Extra Gold". Oh, well ...

5102 Tou Blå Norway Lager 3.4

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

One of the best Norwegian lagers. Moderate carbonation, head disappears quickly. Even though the pilsnermalt is dominant, the use of münchener- and whiskeymalt adds some interesting notes to the aroma and flavour. Malty sweetness is quite well balanced by the hops.

5103 Faxe Fad Denmark Lager 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

"Fad" means "draught" (or really: "keg"), but the name is used on bottles and cans too. This is an acceptable Danish lager - nothing special, but not bad either. Very average, no reason to search it out.

5104 Aass Fatol Norway Lager 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Why do they call it "fatøl" (="draught beer") when it actually comes out of a bottle or can?? Anyway, the flavour is quite acceptable. A reasonably drinkable average lager, just slightly darker than their pilsener.

5105 Aass Gull Norway Lager 2.9

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Surprisingly weak aroma, pleasant flavour that won't offend anyone, moderate hops in the aftertaste. Slightly sweet. Rather low ABV for a "gulløl", or "eksport" as the style of strong pale lagers traditionally has been called in Norway.

5106 Arboga 5.6 Sweden Lager 2.0

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

(500 ml can). Golden lager, leaning towards light brown. Chemical fruity aroma. Excessively sweet flavour, rather alcoholic, at least there are some hops too. Drinkable, but not much more.

5107 Mack Gull Norway Lager 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Rerate, new 500 ml bottle design as Mack GullMack, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Pale yellow colour (paler than before?), big to moderate white head. Aroma of grassy hops and sweetish malts. The flavour is fairly sweet and sugary, with too little bitterness to balance it. Still drinkable. Original Rating: This is a strong pale lager (colour is deeper golden than a pilsener) in the Norwegian "eksport" (Danish: "guldøl") tradition. Aroma and flavour are a bit sweet, tolerably malty, a bit alcoholic but not overwhelmingly. Fairly decent for a Mack product.

5108 Carlsberg Lager (Export) Denmark Lager 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

"Probably the best beer in the world" - NOT!! Over-hyped and over-advertized international lager. The versions sold in Denmark and Norway are a little weaker (4.6 - 4.8%). Must admit I used to have a soft spot for this beer when served fresh in Copenhagen. It's really just an average pale lager, unoffensive and drinkable but not very special in any way.

5109 Carlsberg Sort Guld Denmark Lager 3.2

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

Rerate can: I overrated this beer grossly the first time. This is not much more than an average strong pale lager. Original rating, bottle at the Carlsberg Brewery guest room in Copenhagen: Probably the best medium-strong lager I've had. Lots of taste. Well done Carlsberg!

5110 Tuborg Gold Premium Lager Denmark Lager 3.1

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Known as Tuborg Guld in Denmark. Has a duplicate entry at BeerPal as "Tuborg International Gold Label". This is a quite acceptable medium-strong lager, but nothing extraordinary.

5111 Tuborg Julebryg (Christmas Brew) Denmark Lager 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

(0,5 liter dark blue plastic bottle.) Brownish golden colour, moderate head. Aroma and flavour like an average pilsener with liquorice added - and that's what it actually is (the label states that liquorice is an ingredient). Compared to the best Norwegian 'klasse F' Christmas beers, this is BAD (well, it's drinkable, but not much more).

5112 Tuborg Guld (Tuborg Premium Lager) Denmark Lager 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

The pale lager internationally simply known as 'Tuborg' is in Denmark known as Tuborg Grøn ('Green'), referring to the colour of the bottle and label, not the colour of the beer! ABV there is 4.6%. Sure, when on summer vacation in Denmark and you're thirsty ...., well, a Tuborg is part of it. But this beer is really not more than average, traditionally "competing" with the standard Carlsberg Pilsener/Lager.

5113 Birra Moretti Italy Lager 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Rerate, 330 ml bottle, now available in Norway (ICA). ABV is 4.6%. Pale golden colour, large head. There’s an initial Heineken-isch whiff when you open the bottle (an American would probably say "skunky"). In the glass the moderate aroma has notes of maize (corn) and cooked vegetables, hints of flowers and honey. Spritzy mouthfeel. The flavour actually has some malts, and also moderate hops in the finish, so this one is far from being the worst pale lager I’ve tasted. Quite drinkable.

5114 Herold 14% Specialni Svetle Pivo Czech Republic Lager 3.7

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Deep golden colour, moderate head. Nice hoppy aroma with hints of caramel. Flavour is fairly malty (at least if you want to categorize this as a pilsener), but a substantial hoppy bitterness and solid ABV (5.8%) make this a very robust relative of the lighter-bodied pilseners. Long bitter aftertaste. Way ahead of your average lager-swill.

5115 Sinebrychoff Karhu III Finland Lager 3.0

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

(500 ml can). Typical pale golden pilsener colour, good thick head, nice lacing. There is nothing offensive in aroma or flavour - just too little of everything. "Clean" taste as far as there is any flavour at all - with a little more hops, this could have been a reasonably good lager.

5116 Sinebrychoff Koff III Finland Lager 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

An average Finnish lager. Tasted good on the sundeck of the Helsinki - Tallinn ferry though (on tap), but then most light lagers / pilseners go down easily when the sun is shining!

5117 Ceres Royal Export Denmark Lager 3.2

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

Not bad, but Carlsberg Sort Guld is a better alternative in this ABV category of Danish golden lagers. Very popular in the "duty free" trade. Rerate bottle: Good head, acceptable flavour, not outstanding.

5118 Ceres Top Pilsner Denmark Lager 2.5

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

This is a typical Danish pilsener, average at the best. Easily forgettable. I don't know if Top Pilsner possibly will be phased out by Bryggerigruppen in favour of Royal Pilsner

5119 Thor Pilsner Denmark Lager 2.5

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

An average Danish Pilsener. The Thor brewery in Randers is now closed, but the beers are still brewed at other Bryggerigruppen breweries. Bryggerigruppen are desperately trying to keep up the market shares in the Randers region, where Thor beers for decades were a part of the local identity.

5120 Albani Odense Classic Denmark Lager 3.2

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

Decent on tap (except that all Danish draught beers are served too COLD in their home country). Dark golden colour, moderate head. Fairly malty, lacks hops. Hints of caramel, but not really sweet. Tolerable beer.

5121 Tuborg Rod Lagerol (Lager 0l) Denmark Lager 3.6

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

A very pleasant dunkel, despite the relatively low ABV. Much better than Carlsberg Lagerøl. Beautiful colour, malty flavour. It's a shame that Carlsberg (who owns Tuborg) retired this beer.

5122 Mack Haakon Norway Lager 3.2

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

Fairly dark golden beer, apparently made with some caramel malts / colour malts. Pleasant, slightly sweet flavour, a bit thin. Could use more hops. The old Viking king or earl or whatever pictured on the can would want something more powerful than this.

5123 Vergina (Beptina) Greece Lager 1.8

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

(33 cl can, bought in Greece). Pale golden colour, low head. Weak aroma, weak "neutral" flavour. Poor, but not offensive. Definitely not something to search out.

5124 Tuborg International Gold Label Denmark Lager 3.1

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

A quite acceptable medium-strong golden lager (Danish "guldøl" style), nothing extraordinary. Called Tuborg Guld in Denmark. Duplicate at BeerPal needs to be amalgated: Also listed here as Tuborg Gold Premium Lager. Same beer.

5125 Harboe Bjorne Bryg Øl (Bear Beer) Denmark Lager 2.0

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

A cheap Danish pale swill lager sold at budget supermarkets. Cheap taste, too. Totally forgettable. The Harboe brewery specializes in cheap lagers, nearly all of them get low ratings and I feel no urge to search most of them out.
