4780 | Det Lille Bryggeri Hop Hotel India Pale Ale | Denmark | IPA | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 February 2014: 500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. BB date 7. June 2013. Hazy orange to deep brown colour (depending on the source of light), moderate off-white head. Aroma of American hops, only 2 of the 4 varieties used are American, though (Columbus and Nugget), hints of orange marmalade, moderate notes of pine. The flavour has a base of medium sweet crystal malts, but has first and foremost a pleasant hoppiness throughout, with citrus notes. Perfectly drinkable despite its age. This is a beer I’d buy again (and then probably not wait so long before drinking it). |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat, Sandnes. Pilsener malts and Cascade hops. ABV is 6.0%. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of citric hops, also hints of tropical fruits. Citric hops in the flavour too, again hints of tropical fruits, not too sweet, also hints of pine needles. Moderate bitterness, well balanced and very refreshing. Some days a "plain" but tasty beer like this one is all that I need. |

4792 | Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale | United States | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 350 ml bottle, 2008 vintage, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.9%. Orange to amber colour, big off-white head with an orangey hue. Lovely aroma of Cascade hops, piney and grapefruity notes. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, lots of pine needles, grapefruity bitterness in the finish, very bitter aftertaste. Hints of caramel malts, but the beer is not too sweet. A nice and very drinkable IPA. |

4793 | Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA | United States | IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 12 fl. oz. bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV from 2008 is 7.1%. Clear orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant fruity and sweetish aroma of American hops, distinct notes of citrus and blackcurrant leaves, also moderate notes of malts and toffee. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout (as expected from an American IPA), but the hoppiness is not overdone, which means that the bitterness is firm but not harsh. Furthermore, unlike many other IPAs this one is not too sweet, and seems pretty well balanced altogether. Definitely a beer I’ll buy again. |

4794 | Okells Doctor Okells IPA | Isle of Man | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, big white head. Fairly strong aroma of hops, first flowery, then more citrussy and lightly spicy. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, with grapefruity notes, and has just enough malts to balance it. Pleasant (if somewhat sharp) bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. I don’t know which variety(ies) of hops they have used here - possibly Progress? A nice and refreshing ale this one - will buy again. |

4795 | Mikkeller Cascade IPA | Denmark | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, as Mikkeller Cascade Single Hop IPA, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Deep golden to orange colour, big and lasting off-white head. Lovely aroma of Cascade hops, with the typical grapefruity and pney notes. The flavour is again typical Cascade (in plentiful quantities) from start to finish, lots of grapefruit, pine needles and resin. A nearly Campari-like (wormwood) bitterness in the finish. Some malty sweetness does its best to balance some of the hoppiness. Has enough hops to satisfy hardcore hopheads - I would have been satisfied with less, even though I love Cascade. |

4796 | Mikkeller Single Hop Warrior IPA | Denmark | IPA | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Some sediment in the bottle. Deep golden to orange colour, slightly hazy. Big and lasting off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Warrior hops, not quite as strong hop aroma as in the Cascade Single Hop IPA, but nice, with some complexity. Notes of various fruits (incl. citrus) and mild spices. The flavour lets first some cara-crystal malts come through with a moderate sweetness, then the hops take over with notes of citrus, herbs, spices and some resin. A firm and peppery bitterness in the finish, but not overdone. I’d say this is a fairly well balanced IPA, and it has certainly made me interested in using the Warrior hop variety in homebrew. |

4797 | Stone India Pale Ale | United States | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 12 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Lovely hoppy aroma, notes of citrus and tropical fruits. The zesty and fruity flavour is distinctly hoppy from start to finish, on a sufficient malty background. Ends in a grapefruity bitterness, but it is not overdone. Long bitter aftertaste. More to my liking than the Arrogant Bastard. Good stuff! |

4798 | Rogue Captain Sig's Northwestern Ale | United States | IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle, as Rogue Captain Sig’s Northwestern Ale, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy brown colour, huge light tan head. Nice aroma of fruity American hops (Horizon, Amarillo and Cascade). The flavour has a considerable malty sweetness with hints of caramel, which probably is necessary to balance the 80 IBU. The fruity and resinous hops add more to the flavour than just bitterness, but the finish is nonetheless quite bitter. Good stuff. |
