Keg pint at The Railway Bar, Sligo. Slightly hazy golden colour, creamy white head. Aroma and flavour of citrus, hints of tropical fruits and pine - but just too little of everything. Thin mouthfeel, otherwise there is nothing wrong with it - but there are just too many of these insipid "session IPAs" these days.

Shared bottle at Bryne tasting. Deep golden colour, small white head. Moderate aroma of malts and a little hops, not unpleasant, a hint of juniper. Decent flavour, medium dry, a hint of juniper, nice hops.

440 ml can, batch #273, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Slightly hazy and very pale straw colour, moderate white head. Aroma of spicy witbier yeast, orange peel, coriander seeds and citric hops. Light bodied. Citric and spicy flavour with the same elements as the aroma, quite dry, fairly bitter aftertaste.

440 ml can, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.2%. Hazy yellow colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of citrus fruits, hints of spruce. Thin, citric and fizzy mouthfeel. Citrus and apricot in the flavour, fairly bitter finish.

330 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. Gluten free, ABV is 4.5%. Clear and deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts and bread, only a hint of fruity hops. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour has again notes of malts and bread, the hops are more earthy than citric, decent bitterness though. Thornbridge is still one of my favourite breweries - this beer, however, does not overwhelmingly support that opinion.

440 ml can, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Hazy and very pale yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of kveik, yellow plums and over-ripe peaches, some citric hops. Fizzy, citric and thin mouthfeel. Flavour of citric hops and yellow plums, fairly distinct bittering hops in the finish.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 7.0%. Hazy orange to brown colour, moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Aroma of orange marmalade, and piney and spicy hops. Fairly rich mouthfeel. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also a hint of oatmeal and a less pleasant hint of vomit, decent bitterness in the finish.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Opaque golden colour, white head. Aroma of crushed white grapes and moderate tropical fruits. Spicy and fruity (citrus, tropical fruits) hops in the flavour, decent bitterness.

500 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.7%. Moderately hazy yellow colour, moderate white head. Strong aroma of various tropical fruits and citrus. Citrus and tropical fruits in the flavour too, hints of oatmeal, pine needles and a slight bitterness in the finish. Good beer.

500 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.5%. Hops are Zappa, Enigma and Mosaic. Moderately hazy golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of various tropical fruits, papaya, melon and banana. Fairly sweet flavour - I'd suspect some lactose here, but it is not on the ingredients list. Notes of said fruits again, with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Nice to drink.

330 ml bottle, batch #2053, from Coop Extra, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy "dirty yellow" colour, huge white head, takes a long time to settle. Distinct aroma of piney hops, also hints of grapefruit and lime. Citric mouthfeel, light bodied. Flavour of piney hops, also notes of grapefruit, bitter and fairly sharp finish.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.2%. Hazy pale yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus, spruce and tropical fruits. Slightly sweet flavour of citrus and tropical fruits, well balanced with notes of sprucetips and pine needles in the finish. Decent mouthfeel, good beer.

500 ml bottle, batch #2615, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken, shared with my son. ABV is 7%, IBU 30. Opaque yellow colour, coarse white head. Aroma of "raw" beer (a very bad idea, Nøgne Ø!) and kveik, notes of yellow plums. Medium sweet and "raw" flavour, notes of kveik and yellow plums again, also other yellow stonefruits, fairly distinct bittering hops in the finish.

Shared can at regional tasting. Golden colour. The aroma has some pineapple and dust. Piney flavour, sharp bitterness. So-and-so. Won't be a favourite of mine.

Moderately fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is medium dry, with citric and slightly piney hops. Moderate to low bitterness. Decent beer, but not exceptional.

Dec. 2012: 750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.4%. Amber colour, large off-white head. Lovely aroma of fruity and floral hops. The fairly sweet flavour has notes of crystal malts, balanced by pleasant fruity and slightly spicy hops. Medium bitter finish.

330 ml bottle, probably from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark, or possibly CITTI-Markt, Flensburg. ABV is 7.5%. Cloudy deep golden to amber colour, huge white head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops (mainly citrus, also various tropical fruits), also some herbal notes. The flavour has a more "coarse" character, dominated by yeast, resin and pinewood. Bitter finish.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Nearly clear deep golden colour, white head. Aroma of citrus and earthy hops, none of the expected "tropical" notes. Citrus and earthy hops in the flavour too, medium sweet. Still nothing "tropical" about it.

330 ml bottle, from Lilland's off-licence. ABV is 4.7%. Orange to pale brown colour, hazy when the yeast is poured in the end, large off-white head. Nice aroma of orange marmalade and piney hops. Fizzy and citric mouthfeel, but the body is sufficient for a session IPA. The flavour has notes of citrus and pine needles, and is not too sweet. Refreshing and nice to drink.
