440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, large and creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate / cocoa, vanilla, mild coffee and roast malts, a hint of oak and brandy. Warming and sticky mouthfeel. Very sweet and cloying flavour, distinct notes of oak and brandy, loads of chocolate and vanilla, some bittering hops and more roast malts in the finish. Too sweet for me, really, but still a well made beer.

The flavour is moderately sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, also hints of coffee, with a slight chili burn and quite moderate hops in the finish. Well balanced.

Cask at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013. Black colour. low beige head. Roasty aroma, notes of coffee, vanilla and chocolate, a hint of smoke. Low natural carbonation. Smooth roasty flavour, medium dry, distinct notes of coffee, a hint of smoke in the finish. (I also got a 500 ml bottle recently, from Hos Walter, Ebeltoft. ABV is now 8.0%.)

Distinct aroma of dark malts, molasses, Jack Daniels whiskey, vanilla and oak, a hint of toasted coconut. Rich and warming mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, with the same elements as the aroma.

Distinct aroma of roast malts and coffee, also hints of dark chocolate and liquorice. Medium sweet flavour, with the same elements as the aroma. The sweetness is to some degree balanced by the roast malts and decent bittering hops. Good beer!

375 ml waxed bottle, batch #1390, 2020 vintage (Rackhouse series), Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 13.5%. Pitch black colour, large to moderate tan head. Lovely aroma of roast malts, bourbon whiskey, oak (or maple) and vanilla. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The sweet flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also notes of caramel, liquorice and chocolate, moderate bittering hops. An excellent beer!

Aroma of roast malts, chocolate, mild spices, mild coffee, blackberries, blackcurrants, liquorice. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, the roasty notes are more pronounced now, and there is a distinct hop bitterness in the finish. Also a hint of smoke.

Rich and warming mouthfeel. Very sweet flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, low bitterness. Probably good for cellaring for many more years.

Purchased at Vinmonopolet Herbarium. Pitch black colour, moderate to small tan head. Strong aroma of coffee, molasses, brown sugars and dark malts. Rich and warming mouthfeel. Very sweet flavour, to some degree balanced by distinct bittering hops, and otherwise the same elements as the aroma. Also hints of chocolate and liquorice.

Very sweet and rich flavour with the same elements as the aroma, Dessert in a bottle!

Moderately sweet flavour, notes of roast malts, chocolate, liquorice and coffee, hints of caramel and oatmeal. Moderate hop bitterness in the finish.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub, Stavanger. ABV is 9.8%. 46 EBU. Pitch black colour, small tan head. Aroma of roast malts, Scotch whisky, oak and sherry, a hint of peat smoke. Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. The medium sweet flavour has notes of roast malts, peat smoke, iodine, whisky, oak and decent bittering hops, also fruity hints of prunes and sherry. Well balanced and enjoyable.

The flavour is not too sweet, and is very well balanced throughout, with decent hops. Also notes of chocolate, prunes and mild coffee. A hint of liquorice. Remarkably good.

Medium sweet flavour, you sense that there is a decent imperial stout in the background, with some chocolate, unfortunately ruined by cherry essence and almond essence.

Boozy aroma of molasses, raw alcohol, oak and rum, also notes of roast malts, coffee, chocolate and nuts. Very moderate carbonation, warming mouthfeel. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, not so much raw alcohol though, more oak and rum, and appears quite well balanced. Moderate hops. Slightly salty aftertaste.
