3476 | Hofbrau Munchen Kindl Weissbier (Hefe Weizen) / Hofbräu Munchen Kindl Weissbier (Hefe Weizen) | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 (Sampled 0,5 liter bottle) Cloudy light golden beer with sediment, good head. Lovely spicy and fruity aroma that promises more than the flavour keeps. Dry, mildly spicy. Short aftertaste. Not bad, but there are better Weissbiers around. |

3477 | Edelweiss Hefetrüb Weissbier | Austria | Hefeweizen | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle). Typical hefe cloudy golden, large head. Lovely strong aroma of ripe bananas, bubblegum and cloves. Cloves in the flavour too, light bodied, tasty but could still use some more "bite". Like most weissbiers not too much aftertaste. Good, not outstanding. |

3480 | Nøgne Ø Weiss | Norway | Hefeweizen | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (Bottle conditioned, 500 ml). Rerate: This time I had the beer from a fresh batch, and the dead yeast aroma and flavour was gone. Instead the aroma and flavour were now overpowering yeasty - but from fresh yeast this time(which is not unpleasant). Far better, but I still think the brewers use too much yeast in this brew. But the head of this beer is less enormous when poured than many other weissbiers. So far the least interesting of the Nøgne Ø beers I've had. Original rating: (500 ml bottle). Thick sediment in bottle. Like the brewers recommend, I turned the bottle upside down a couple of times to get the maximum out of the yeast, but having my experience with the Wit in fresh memory, I waited a little longer before opening the bottle this time! Pours with a large head, but not quite as large as some other Weissbiers. Colour is cloudy golden. Weird aroma, not typical hefe. The cloves are there, but the dominant smell is of dead yeast. Must have been over the top, despite "brewed date" being 21.06.03, and "best before date" being 21.06.04. I have a few bottles left, think I'll leave the sediment alone in those. Flavour is OK, but nothing special. Drier than most German Hefeweizens. |

3483 | Ringnes Weiss | Norway | Hefeweizen | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle. Cloudy brownish golden colour, large head. Typical hefeweizen aroma with notes of cloves and ripe bananas. Flavour is also typical hefeweizen, but lacks some of the "freshness" of the best beers of this style. Mouthfeel is a bit watery and bland, probably due to a lower ABV. A hefeweizen should have an ABV around 5.4! - which, however, would have excluded it from the Norwegian grocery store market. Still, this is a drinkable and fairly refreshing beer, not a bad try from Ringnes. |

3484 | Unertl Weißbier | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.0
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 4.9%. Not to be confused with Unertl Mühldorfer Weissbier (different brewery, different town). Hazy orange-brownish colour, huge off-white head. Lovely aroma of ripe fruits with vinous notes, oak, bananas and cloves. Flavour is moderately acidic and lemony, with faint notes of wood, sour dough bread and cloves. Light bodied. Like most weissbiers a relatively short aftertaste. I drank it slightly too warm, must be very refreshing when colder, esp. on a fine summer’s day. |

3485 | Herrnbrau Hefe Weißbier Hell | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought at KaDeWe, Berlin, as Herrnbräu Hefe Weißbier Hell. Hazy pale golden colour, enormous lasting white head. LOVELY cloves aroma, notes of citrus and banana too. Flavour has distinct cloves notes, moderate lemony notes too. Moderate body but decent for a hefe, refreshing. An excellent beer for a hot day. |

3486 | Duckstein Rotblondes Weizen | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at KaDeWe, Berlin. Murky brown colour, large off-white head (but relatively moderate for a hefeweizen), does not last "forever". Moderate carbonation. Lovely cloves and banana aroma, hints of dried fruits, oak and fresh brown bread. Flavour is bready and fairly dry, moderate notes of cloves, mouthfeel is relatively watery and bland. Does not quite deliver what the aroma promises. Probably better with food than on its own. |

3487 | Atna Hveteøl | Norway | Hefeweizen | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, Vinmonopolet. Typical hefeweizen appearance, cloudy golden colour, large head. Lovely h.w. aroma, cloves and ripe bananas abound, hints of leather, wood and ammonium. Soft flavour and mouthfeel, I want a litlle more "spritziness" from a h.w., but this is still a drinkable beer. Too expensive compared to other h.w.s available in Norway. |

3488 | Schneider Weisse Tap 7: Schneider Weisse Original | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget). Cloudy / muddy brownish colour, large and lasting off-white head. Lovely hefeweizen aroma, full of ripe bananas and cloves, also notes of other spices, leather and tropical fruits. Flavour is zesty and mildly spicy, some citrus, and even decent hops for a h.w. Very nice! |

3489 | Oslo Mikrobryggeri Hefe-Weizen | Norway | Hefeweizen | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at the brewpub. Very pale colour, nearly crystal clear, appearance more of a Kristallweizen than a Hefe. Served with a lemon wedge on the rim of the glass, not IN the beer, T.G. Moderate head. Typical weissbier aroma: citrus, banana and cloves. The aroma was somewhat "disturbed" by the fact that the brewer was cleaning the brewing vessels with the door open while I was there, a strong wort aroma filled the brewpub, but that’s a rather charming part of the game IMO. The flavour is more citrussy / lemony than most German weissbiers. Light bodied and refreshing, a very moderate bitterness in the finish. An okay thirstquencher, but certainly no masterpiece. |

3490 | Mack Ludwig Premium Hvete | Norway | Hefeweizen | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 500 ml can.) Mack Bryggeri in Tromsø, the worlds northernmost commercial brewery (there’s a brewpub further north) is a macro brewery by Norwegian standards (not by American!), but they have recently also bought a full micro brewery equipment in order to brew "niche" beers (= ales, mostly) as a welcome change in the Norwegian pale lager desert. You have to give them props for trying, even if the results are not remarkable (and I’m not sure that the "micro" varieties, all named "Ludwig" something after the founder of the brewery, will help them out of their financial problems). Their attempt at a German hefeweizen is drinkable, but unfortunately the pleasant standard hefeweizen aroma is flawed by strong sidenotes of SOAP. Typical cloudy hefe appearance. Flavour is tolerable, but fairly bland and far from great. Still, they ARE trying. And I’d prefer their Hvete (wheat) to their standard macro lagers. Doesn’t take much, really. But any German brewed macro Hefeweizen is still a better choice than this micro ... |

3491 | Schneider Weisse Weizenhell | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 5.2%. Hazy golden colour, large head. Lovely weissbier aroma, plenty of cloves, some banana too but not as much as in some other hefes. Cloves also in the flavour, which is light bodied, refreshing and not too sweet. A slightly lemony finish. A very enjoyable hefe! |

3492 | Flensburger Weizen | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 330 ml fliptop bottle, bought in Germany. Hefeweissbiers have had quite a renaissance in Germany, so why not one from the Bundesrepublik’s northernmost commercial brewery too? Hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely strong aroma of cloves and banana, some aromatic hops too. Flavour like an average hefe with a little more hops. Nice. |

3495 | Original Oettinger Hefeweissbier Naturtrüb | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. This beer is brewed in Oettinger’s brewery in Schwerin. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy (less hazy than many other hefes), large and fluffy white head. Aroma and flavour have some some of the traditional hefe characteristics (banana and cloves), but to a weaker degree, and there are also some soapy elements in the aroma. I tend to like nearly all hefeweissbiers, but this one definitely belongs in the lower end of the scale. Still drinkable and refreshing. |

3496 | Brix Weissbier | Norway | Hefeweizen | 3.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.4%. Golden to orange colour, large white head. Moderate aroma of banana and cloves, a weird hint of broth in the background. Refreshing wheaty flavour, not very sweet, notes of grain with a hint of cloves. A slight acidity (possibly not intended?). Clearly drinkable, but the Germans do this style better. |

3497 | Lilland Weissbier | Norway | Hefeweizen | 2.7
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, from Lilland's off-licence. ABV is 4.7%. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the hazy golden beer appears only slowly. Aroma of yeast (far too yeasty), also notes of wheat and cloves. The flavour is also too yeasty, and moderately citric, notes of grain, hints of cloves. Still drinkable. Banana, yeast and grain in the aftertaste. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Murky brownish-golden colour, large white head. Sweetish aroma of malts, wort, banana and cloves. Fizzy, watery and slightly citric mouthfeel. Grainy flavour, also notes of banana and cloves. Drinkable, but the Germans do it better. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 July 2017: 330 ml can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of citrus, coriander, spicy yeast and herbal hops. Fizzy mouthfeel. Citrussy and yeasty flavour, moderate spicy notes, with more distinct hops than you are accustomed to find in a wheatbeer. |
