3451 | Jolly Pumpkin Weizen Bam | United States | Hefeweizen | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Batch 573. ABV is not mentioned on the label. Cloudy pale yellow colour, huge to big white head. Attractive aroma of citrus, banana, cloves, nutmeg and wild yeast with "farmhouse" notes. The flavour is lemony and acidic with notes of cloves and a hint of oak. Very refreshing and drinkable, but I’d like some more hops. |

3452 | Herold Specialni Psenicne Pivo (Bohemian Wheat Lager) | Czech Republic | Hefeweizen | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Label says " Herold hefeweizen Bohemian Wheat Lager Kvasnicové psenícné pivo - kvasnícový svetlý lezák 12 degrees plato unfiltered blond lager ABV 5.1%". So is this a "real" hefeweizen (which I thought were technically ales?), or is it a wheat lager with hefeweizen yeast added in the bottle? Or am I asking stupid questions? Anyway, the beer is "murky golden" with a large to moderate head. Aroma is fairly sweet and fruity (blackberries/brambles, blackcurrants?) with hints of sheepshed and old leather. Lagerish elements. Some cloves too, but not as strong as with most German hefeweizens. Flavour is a strange combination of a typical premium lager and a typical hefeweizen. Moderately spicy. Dusty finish. Not bad. |

3454 | Erdinger Weissbier (Mit Feiner Hefe) | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Same beer as Erdinger Hefe Weissbier - a duplicate issue on BeerPal that needs to be amalgated. (In Europe this beer is simply called Erdinger Weissbier). Erdinger's best selling beer. Large head, hazy golden colour. Typical Hefe aroma. A refreshing and crisp summer beer (available all year). Maybe not a true masterpiece, but a nice Hefe all the same. I like it! |

3455 | Kaltenberg Konig Ludwig Weiss | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle. As "Prinzregent Luitpold Weissbier" in Germany it contains more "hefe" and is more carbonated than the international König Ludwig version). Cloudy blond colour, large head. Lovely aroma of ripe bananas and cloves. Light bodied, some cloves in the flavour, refreshing. Like most weissbiers a short aftertaste, but what there is, is good. |

3456 | Baltika 8 (Wheat) | Russia | Hefeweizen | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, now available in Norway. Some sediment in bottle, pours with a typical enormous weissbier head. Pale straw coloured, just a slight haziness. Strong typical hefe-weissbier aroma, distinct cloves and banana-flavoured sweets, very nice. Light bodied, thinner mouthfeel than many German hefe-weissbiers, but refreshing. Cloves and moderate hops in the aftertaste. Not bad for a Russian macro brewery. |

3458 | Fürst Wallerstein Weissbierpils | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Sampled RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. Swingtop bottle, no ABV mentioned. Allegedly the world’s first hefeweissbier-pilsener hybrid. Cloudy pale golden colour, moderate head. Nice aroma and flavour where the traditional weissbier elements (cloves and banana) dominate, but also some German pilsener hops around (Hallertau, Tettnang?). Okay. |

3459 | Primátor Weizenbier | Czech Republic | Hefeweizen | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, my wife bought this one for me in Prague. Typical hefeweizen appearance, hazy golden colour, large white head. Aroma is also typical h.w.: strong notes of cloves, banana and citrus - nice. Flavour is more citrussy than some German h.w.s, cloves too, fairly light bodied, could have been more complex. Not bad though. |

3460 | Maisels Weisse Original | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 5.4%. Hazy amber colour, large slightly off-white head. "Absolutely fabulous" aroma, orgasmic in its abundancy of fruitiness and spiciness. Notes of leather too. Flavour is bit more restrained, still very nice with all the traditional hefe characteristics, wheaty and yeasty with cloves but also some caramel and brown bread. Aftertaste is, like with most wheat beers, very moderate but nice. Can you expect a hefeweizen to be much better than this? |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Bottle conditioned, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting (courtesy of the brewery). Murky / cloudy pale brown colour. Lots of sediment in the bottle. Typical hefe aroma, cloves and ripe bananas. Yeasty flavour with cloves, a bit more hops than in many other hefes. |

3462 | Husumer Weizenbier | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Draught in the Brauhaus / brewpub / restaurant, which is situated in the Theodor Storm Hotel (a Best Western hotel) in Husum. Hazy golden colour, orange in the restaurant candlelight. Moderate head, fizzy. Strong cloves and banana aroma. Flavour has cloves and is fairly dry, there are some hops around too. Aftertaste is a bit "dusty". |

3464 | København VesterWeisse | Denmark | Hefeweizen | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Draught at the brewpub. ABV was said to be 4.7%. Cloudy brownish golden colour. Lovely yeasty hefe aroma, "banana split" caramel candy and cloves. Typical hefe flavour, fairly dry. Slightly too bland and watery. It being served ICE cold probably didn’t help. |

3466 | Carlsberg Hvede (Wheat) | Denmark | Hefeweizen | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Draught at a Turkish restaurant in Odense (had it also later on two other occasions in Denmark). Served too cold. Surprisingly dark colour, orange to brown, cloudy. Moderate but nice hefe aroma and flavour, tolerable hops. Went nicely with the Turkish buffet. Pleasant cloves aftertaste. |

3467 | Brøckhouse Hvede | Denmark | Hefeweizen | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 Draught at Carlsen’s Kvarter, Odense. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Traditional hefeweizen aroma with an unusual hint of vomit and rotting fruits. Flavour is much better than the aroma, but unusually sweet for a hefe, plenty of cloves though. |

3468 | St. Georgen Bräu Weissbier | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, many thanks to Gr0ve who supplied it to me from SmartClub Norway. Pours cloudy golden with the typical large hefeweizen head. Strong yeasty aroma with notes of melons, bananas, fermenting fruits and spices. Hints of ammonium. Typical hefe flavour with cloves, not as light-bodied as some other hefes, fairly dry, tolerable hops. Not bad at all. I hope this beer becomes more easily available in Norwegian grocery stores, the ABV allows it. |

3469 | Kuchlbauer Weisse | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Hazy orange colour, pours with the typical hefeweizen enormous head. Spicy aroma (cloves and more), hints of leather and ammonium too. Typical hefeweizen flavour but not quite as full as I desired. Rather dry, minimal hops. Fizzy and slightly dusty mouthfeel. Decent, but not the best h.w. I’ve had. |

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Typical hefeweizen enormous head which lasts "forever", very cloudy golden. Typical h.w. aroma of cloves and ripe bananas. Flavour is relatively dry with the typical hefe character, notes of cloves and herbal spices, moderate hops. Another very nice and refreshing h.w.! |

3473 | Ayinger Brau-Weisse | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cloudy light golden colour, large head. Typical hefe aroma (which is good), cloves, flowers and some citrus. Light bodied, typical hefe flavour but there's just too little of it, thin mouthfeel. Finish / aftertaste is definitely too thin / weak. The Ur-Weisse is a better choice. |

3474 | Löwenbräu Hefe Weissbier / Lowenbrau Hefe Weissbier | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (500 ml bottle, under its alias Löwen Weisse, ABV 5,2%). Typical hefe cloudy golden colour, large head. Delicious aroma of ripe bananas and spices, typical hefe flavour with cloves and hints of citrus. Short aftertaste. Great in summer, but I'd prefer this one to Löwenbräu Original at any time of the year. |

3475 | Paulaner Hefeweizen | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Original rating: Sweeter than I expected, this is still an attractive and refreshing Hefe-Weissbier. Started drinking it with a warm meal, not a good idea - much better on its own or with a light snack. Enormous long-lasting head, pleasant but not very strong aroma. Flavour has all the good elements a beer of this style should have, a bit too sweet though. Rerate: Sweetness does not come through quite as much this time. Lovely aroma. A good hefe! |
