303 | Oslo Brewing Co. Barley Wine (Jameson BA) | Norway | American Barleywine | 1.7
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11.4%. Moderately hazy reddish brown colour, no head. Aroma of fusel alcohols, molasses, oak and mediocre whiskey, a hint of vomit. Very moderate carbonation. Very oaky / woody and alcoholic flavour, not very sweet, with an unexpected sharp and unpleasant bitterness in the finish, totally unbalanced. Whatever they have been trying to accomplish here, it is very poorly executed. Drainpour - what a waste of money! |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, probably Stavanger Verksgt. Also available at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 14.6%. Very deep brown to black colour (what's this modern idea that barleywines should be black?). No head, minimal carbonation. Aroma of malts, molasses, caramel and treacle, hints of soy sauce, fusel and oak. Flat and boozy mouthfeel. Way too sweet and alcoholic flavour, notes of oak and fusel.
