Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Aug. 2013: 500 ml bottle, shared by a neighbour. ABV is 6.0%. Copper colour, moderate white head. Pleasant malty aroma and flavour with fruitcake, stewed fruits and some caramel. The hops are moderate, but nicely balanced. A typical English ESB / strong pale ale, much to my liking. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Jan. 2013: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops (citrus, tropical fruits), also hints of pine. The flavour is dry and distinctly hoppy, notes of pine / resin and grapefruit. Bitter finish / aftertaste. Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, kindly brought home from Copenhagen by my wife. Brew #199, ABV is 5.9%. Hazy deep golden colour, huge white (slightly off-white?) head. Lovely fruity aroma of Amarillo hops, notes of citrus, hints of resin and tropical fruits. The zesty flavour has distinct and fruity Amarillo hops from start to finish, on a decent malty background - well balanced. Not too sweet. Moderate but sufficient bitterness. A pleasant drop. |

2720 | Rise Premium India Pale Ale Økologisk | Denmark | English Pale Ale | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.5%. Organic, ingredients include sugar and ascorbic acid (E300 - vitamin C). Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Brewed with English ale yeast. Weak aroma of floral hops, some "dusty" notes too. The flavour is first fairly sweet and malty, with a "dusty" finish. Some metallic hops in the aftertaste, with notes of wet cardboard to boot. Ridiculously poorly hopped for something going under the name of "IPA". Would not be a great beer, whatever name they had chosen. Nope, this is simply not good enough. |

2722 | Hansa Waldemars Pale Ale | Norway | English Pale Ale | 2.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 500 ml can, ABV is 4.5%. A "pale ale" brewed with German aromatic hops, hmm? Golden colour, big to moderate head. Moderate "pale lager" aroma, hints of grass and honey. The flavour and mouthfeel are also like a pale lager, as such not the worst I have tasted, not offensive, but far from great. In a blind test I would never have guessed that this was an ale. Lacks completely the character of an English bitter / pale ale. |

2723 | Oslo Mikrobryggeri Belgisk Pale Ale | Norway | English Pale Ale | 2.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 On tap at the brewpub. Hazy deep copper coloured beer, low head. Diacetyl and some vinegar in both aroma and flavour. I did not like it at all. Should never have been for sale - if the brewers want to destroy their own good reputation, this is the way to do it. |

2724 | Små Vesen Audhumla | Norway | English Pale Ale | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, bought at Hotel Havana (which is not a hotel, but an upmarket delicatessen / grocery store in Oslo). Brew #1, BB May 2009. ABV is 4.7%. Cloudy amber to orange colour, moderate but lasting off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma, also notes of citrus and white wine vinegar. The flavour has a moderate hoppiness, but unfortunately also some vinegary notes which may mean that an infection is on its way. Dry and sourish finish. |
