Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. The flavour has first some sweet malty notes and fruity hints of oranges, followed by a distinct hop bitterness which becomes quite sharp in the aftertaste.

440 ml can, batch #373, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large white head. Nice aroma of floral, fruity (citrus and yellow stonefruits) and herbal hops. Light bodied. Decent hoppy flavour, fruity first, with a decent herbal, spicy and piney finish, acceptable bitterness.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, small tan head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee, dark chocolate, a hint of liquorice. Dry flavour with the same elements as the aroma, moderate and well balanced bittering hops. Straight up indeed, and moreish. Simply a good beer.

Aroma of fruity and spicy hops, notes of citrus, tropical fruits, crushed gooseberries and white grapes, a hint of spruce. Medium sweet flavour with distinct fruity hops, mainly the same elements as the aroma, piney finish, a moderate bitterness in the aftertaste.

Aroma of roast malts and brown malts, not as roasty as the 4.7% Hòkunàtt Norsk Julebock. Smooth flavour, roast malts and brown malts again (a bit more roasty now), notes of coffee, dark chocolate and caramel, but not overly sweet. Nice to drink.

440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Black colour, moderate and creamy tan head with a reddish hue. Aroma of roast malts, burnt breadcrumbs, liquorice and blackcurrants. The flavour is roasty with a distinct fruity acidity, blackcurrants and liquorice come up front. Not extremely sweet. Unusual and interesting.

Vintage 2012. Shared 660 ml bottle at local tasting, Aug. 2014. Very dark brown colour, nearly black, minimal tan head. Vinous aroma, notes of oak, hints of cider and calvados. Mild roasty notes in the background. Minimal carbonation. Warming mouthfeel. Very oaky flavour, roasty chocolate notes with hints of cider and calvados. Nice, but a little more carbonation would be an advantage.
